BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science Level 3

Hey Guys

I was wondering if you know anyone who's gotten accepted to study nutrition or dietetics at university with a BTEC Extended National Diploma in Applied Science??

& Is it REALLY difficult to get D or D*'s? If I work really hard, will I be able to achieve it?

Don't know about the degree you want to go for but honestly if you are an average student at GCSE, the applied science will be a walk in the park.
I am going to be starting my second year in September and I got 10 distinctions out of 10 units in my first year.
But seriously if you want to study and actually learn something, try going for A-levels, also applied science won't get you into top degrees such as engineering, medicine, dentistry.
I chose applied science and I kind of regret it as I haven't really learnt anything purely because of the coursework method of teaching. (You can research everything on the Internet and ace your assessment)

I don't know anyone but I know btecs are excepted :smile:

I want to be a dietician and I did one year of level 3 applied science but I didn't like it so I'm gonna do a foundation year and then progress onto the degree!

And yes Ds and D*s are achievable only if you work very hard. Good luck

Doesn't it depend on which college you go to? Mine was 4 days a week and different hours on different days because we had serious problems in my college...

No, in order to do most foundation years , they ask for a certain amount of UCAS points or grade but its usually from one level 3 course ie btec a level... But you must have maths and English GCSE. I've just done a lot of education due to certain circumstances...

I'm going to uni of Hertfordshire :smile:

I need somewhere very close to where I live! London! I wasn't allowed to stay at home lol

It's called the extended science degree :smile:

But I'm so confused... Why do you wanna do a foundation year, when you're gonna complete a extended diploma and a-level? You'll be over qualified to do an foundation... So you might as well apply to the normal dietetics degree when you finish doing the btec and a level. :/

Oh noI thought you had done A-levels and a BTEC & had applied for a foundation year for dietetics

I checked the entry requirements for dietetics and nutrition and it says you need A-Level chemistry along with an BTEC Extended National Diploma

Not sure if they'll accept my BTEC along with a Biology A-Level?
