i've been having a tough time recently. it's been hard to deal with going back to school. (when i say school i'm talking about alevels lol)
Uni is so close!!
Not as worried about it now though cos i've been able to see my room early and things.
Trying to work out how to see eachother loads with my bf (now fb official- such a big step :P). Hopefully we will still be able to see eachother often. He's really good for me and so nice and kind, I don't know what i'd do without him

Not so sure about freshers week but there's apparently an "alternative" freshers week which isn't alcohol fueled so that sounds cool.

Gunna be a lot of stress and frantic packing soon but i'm sure i'll cope.

Worried about making friends and who will be on my landing :/ I hope we all get on. My plan is to bring in some doughnuts or something when I move in to make socialising a bit easier and hopefully give them a good first imprression. ... And now i'm craving a doughnut -_- XD

Haven't been on for a while, but I hope everyone's doing well. :jumphug:

Been feeling so awful. This summer was rock bottom for me. Like the ******* useless idiot I am I missed my Oxford offer by one ******* grade. Been going through a million things and not sure what to do at all. I managed to get a place at another top ten university but I feel like a failure. I feel awful and ungrateful. The uni I'm going to offers the course I want and I'm so happy with all that but I feel that I'm missing out on what could have been. It's my own fault. I spent so long building up to Oxford and now it's gone, just like that. Since results day I've barely left my house, not eating well, just feeling like utter ****. I feel like I've lost the one thing that's been keeping my going and I don't know how much longer I can keep it up. I've been struggling my whole life and now it feels I don't have any reason to anymore. I'm just so lost and I don't know what to do. It feels like everyone around me is happy and doing well and I've failed. ****. I wanted it so badly.

Had a panic attack in the car with my mum today. It got so bad she had to pull over. No idea what triggered it, she was just dropping me home after going to the shops. She ended up staying all evening but I've missed my friend's gig which I was looking forward to going to. I have been a complete failure today. Spent too much money. But I did spend it on stuff my care coordinator recommended. I just feel like I'm one step away from having to go back to hospital again.

:hugs: You're trying, and that counts for a lot - as long as you keep making an effort to live life and try and get by I think that's a fairly strong reason for your keeping out of hospital. I reckon it's when you give up altogether, or are too ill to understand how to take care of yourself, that hospital is really called for. There's no need to feel guilty or call yourself a failure, cos you're doing what you can and shouldn't be so harsh on yourself. :nah:
Still battling with my mind. Hopefully I will get allowed to repete, otherwise I am screwed. But I think, my mind goes before my studies. (Okay, I also had no other chice at the end. :s-smilie: )

I could probably answer endlessly and I hesitate to answer you shortly, as I fear to sound like "man up" or like one of those "motivation preachers", but I try. I need to sleep, so I can't answer as detailed as I would want to.

University doesn't determine where you end up. Elite university (and there are others than Oxbridge in the UK, who are on the same level) may offer more and make it more likely, but depending on your personality they may offer you much less (everyone is differently and thrives in another environment under other circumstances). Much more important is a stable personality, experiences who will lead you to making the right decisions and something you like to work for. Motivation and success are far more complicated to explain and have maybe more to do with random everyday decisions, than the question wether you went to Oxford or Oxford Brookes, especially for undergraduate!

Why do I say that? I am already studying on Master Level and thus I have passed the state of being a fresher (long ago :colondollar: ). I know two, who got VERY far, went to Universities for undergraduate, everyone at TSR would laugh about or strongly discourage you. You need to offer something at the end and want to thrive at what you are doing, the question where you did your undergraduate degree is often secondary.

Cant stop crying tonight.

So pathetic.
Even at things i dont need to cry at.
:cry2:

:jumphug: hope tonight is/ was better for you. It's not pathetic, it's human. Showing emotion isn't a weakness so just let it pass by without getting at yourself for it. x

Need to start getting into a better sleep pattern some time soon. Past 4am is not a sensible bed time!

Had a bit of a funny moment today but it wasn't too bad and didn't last long so no biggie

Nothing planned yet, but I'd like to make a present for a friend. I might start with a simple design that can be put onto a cushion cover or something like that. It might be a good way of taking my mind of work stuff and a way to learn something new.

You can buy patterns, thats how i do it so the pattern is already printed on the material so its really handy for beginners or people with no imagination like me  they even have the right colours and stuff in the pack

Awesome. I find making stuff for other people really helps my mood.

I've fancied having a go at this cross stitch pattern for a while, only I've never had the patience for stuff like embroidery. :colondollar:

legalreality has pretty much said all that I would want to say. You're not a failure at all - going to (or not going to) Oxford doesn't define you as a person. University is totally what you make of it, Oxford included. So work hard, play hard and enjoy your top 10 uni and you will succeed :h:
Have started keeping a voices diary. Just a simple thing with the situation I was in when they started, what they said and their loudness marked out of 10. I'm finding it interesting but upsetting at the same time to see it all written down on paper. Hoping this will give me some control or even just the feeling of control over them. Anyone had any success with anything similar? :ninja:
