What's the most money you've lost whilst gambling?
I'm p*ssed off the other day I lost £50 on roulette machine and tbh it would make me feel better if others shared their experiences and were as foolish as me

About 500$ in blackjack which I won a few minutes earlier. I was going to double and leave with 1k

On the other hand the more you lose the strongest is the desire to win it all back. In any case you keep playing and this is exactly what they want because statistically every game you lose a small amount of $.

My Dad manages a casino so I don't actually gamble myself but a few years ago his biggest customer lost £250,000 over the course of a year. That's in a relatively small club as well, go somewhere like London and you see the really crazy numbers :O

I lost £100 on JackpotCity when I tried to claim a bonus without risk and didn't read the terms and conditions properly. It turns out it was locked in...
£10. It was a good lesson to learn as a kid.
When I had just started secondary school my family didn't have much money and were scraping to pay the bills and early on in term my Mum gave me a tenner so that I could get stuff from the school tuck shop, that should have lasted me a couple of weeks, but I had a bet on something with another kid, lost, and he gleefully took it straight off me. I was ashamed to tell my Mum about it.
After that gambling has never really appealed.
I have had other mates have a real problem with it though. My flatmate at uni was down to his last £200 with 7 weeks to go of term so we were talking about how he had to try and spend below £30 a week to cover his food and not go on any nights out. He wasn't up for that so decided he would boost his bank balance by doing online poker, which he had never played before (he had played poker when drunk but not online). He came in to my room a few hours later in the early hours of the morning confessing that he'd lost £120.

I had it worse once-I was on industrial placement and normally commuted into work with my housemate in his car. Having zero to my name (in fact, -£2,000), I was left royally up the creek when his car broke down and he couldn't take me in. I couldn't afford the £3 train fare and he refused to give me any. I called up the bank to try and get a £10 extension until my next pay day a few days later-they said no. As it was I found a few quid around the house and used that and had to explain to my supervisor why I was hours late.
Gambling is an absolutely horrible, self destructive thing to be caught up in.
The most I've lost is fifteen pounds.

I think gambling is fun. You just need not to be a total idiot and bet money that is essential to you. If you do ridiculous things like play against the house and borrow money to win back what you've lost because you're 'due a win', there's a good chance it's going to end up hurting you. If not on that occasion, eventually.

The problem is I wasn't gambling because it was fun, I was doing it because it was an escape. A lot of people with gambling problems are well aware they shouldn't be doing it, but addictions aren't rational and arise from more underlying problems.
