Hey!

Umm for me, I knew when I came out I did the best I could. Nothing went majorly wrong. Apart from maybe the English test...I did guess some of the punctuation bit.
With the presentation. I made sure I showed confidence despite being really nervous. I volunteered to go first and by doing that it made it so much easier. Over and done with and it shows confidence.

Good luck

Hi PGCEers!

I just emailed Roehampton to ask what time and where we need to be on Monday for the induction. They responded saying the induction will be in Chapman Hall, Southlands Campus at 9am. Was this information sent out at some stage or is it on the moodle? I'm worried I am missing something, because it seem strange we haven't already been told this information...

Looking forward to meeting you all!

An email with all the details was sent out yesterday afternoon with groups, timetables and induction info. Can't believe we start on Monday!

Ahh ok! Looks like I have been missed off the email chain! I have emailed Roehampton asking for it, but if someone can forward it to me that would be great!

*mod edit: Please do not post personal details, instead use the PM function*

Hey

I am going to apply to Roehampton University for the 2014 intake year for PGCE secondary languages and I had some questions. I wanted to know when you sent your applications off and when your interview was. When did you take your skills test and what you included in your personal statement, who you chose as your referee.

Thank you!

Hi!

I sent mine off before the deadline. I want to say around early November. I can't quite remember. However I waited well over a month before I heard back from roehampton. My interview was on the 13th Feb. As for skills tests I did one before the interview and one during the Easter break. I personally would spread them out (at the time I was in my 3rd year.) my interview had an English test hence why I chose to take the English test prior to the interview. I would recommend to get the tests done as soon as possible. Just not on the same day or week. You need to allow yourself time to revise for both tests.

I'm on the primary course, so I tailored my statement more specifically on that. I would talk about your specialist subject.
In mine I wrote about what is needed to be a good teacher and I stated i possessed those qualities and I also wrote about what I hope to bring to the profession. And i also spoke about my work experiences.

As for referees I asked my uni lecturer and my boss at a tutoring centre I use to work at.

I hope that helps! Good luck

Hi Sam, I'm hoping to apply to roehampton for primary. How are you finding the course? I'd be interested to know more about how focused the lectures are on your chosen key stage. Also you mentioned a specialism, I hadn't heard about that?

Hi everyone,
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I was just wondering how you are all finding your PGCE courses? I have a place at Roehampton and really want to take it up but I read a review which wasn't very complementary about the organisation of the course.. I'm hoping that this isn't true as it's my first choice! I'm doing Secondary History by the way  and it's a School Direct route under Roehampton.
Cheers in advance

Yeah I got it pretty close to the university, about a 15 minute bus ride according to Google Maps.

I would advise to keep on at them. I sent a ton of emails and personalised letters to the heads of about 30-40 local schools a few weeks ago and heard nothing back. A few days ago I went through my list and rang them all up, some had filled up and others told me to email...again.

Hi. I am starting my PGCE at Roehampton in Sept (ks2)... just wanted to know how you are finding it? Also what is this alternative placement that many people have mentioned and when is it done? Any info amd your thoughts on the uni/course would be much appreciated!
Hi
Can anyone who passed their PGCE interview (Primary) in 2013 or 2014 give any tips or advice on what they think you need to do to pass? I am one of the graduates who keeps getting rejected and as much as I am willing to try try again I feel like there is something I must be missing
Thank you
