Swedish Left Party Seeks To Ban Men From Peeing While Standing Up

The local chapter of the Left Party, a socialist and feminist political party, in Sormland County Council, Sweden, is pushing to make standing while peeing illegal for men using the county council's public restrooms.

Party officials are pushing to make public restrooms in the county council "sitting only."
According to the Local, supporters of the proposal say sitting while urinating is more hygienic and promotes sanitary restroom habit for male users. It will help to eliminate the problem of puddles on the floor and spray stains on toilet seats. They also argue that urinating while sitting will help to promote male health because it allows men to empty their bladder more effectively. Sitting while urinating according to advocates will reduce prostate problems among men.

The Local reports that as a compromise, the party has proposed that some toilets could, in the interim, be designated exclusively for men who must remain standing while peeing.
The Left Party's Viggo Hansen, who made the proposal, said that ultimately he wants office toilets in the council to be genderless and would thus like to see only "sit-down" toilets in county council offices.

He said that the move should not be seen as meddling in the bathroom habits of people. He told Sveriges Television (SVT): "That's not what we're doing. We want to give men the option of going into a clean toilet."
But proposals across Europe to enforce "sitting only" regulation in public toilets have been criticized. Dr. John Gamel of Louisville University, writing in the Naked Scientists, noted that the push to enact legislation banning men from standing while peeing in restrooms is spreading in Europe with feminists pushing similar legislation in Germany, France and Holland.

According to Gamel, "The liberated women of France and Germany and Holland have vowed to put their men down on the toilet. They carry placards showing a huge red X scrawled across a man standing to urinate. They shout: 'Laissez tomber votre pantalon, et asseyez vous! (Drop your trousers and sit)!' 'Behalte deine Tropfen fuer dich (Keep your drips to yourself)!' 'Toch niet weer een vieze plas op MIJN badkamer vloer (Not another filthy puddle on MY bathroom floor)!'"

Gamel argues that legislation cannot force men to adopt more supposedly sanitary habits while peeing. He told The Huffington Post that the spray and spatter during "shake off" will not be prevented because "no man will want to shake off" while sitting on the toilet to avoid sticking the hand inside the toilet.

This is one of the biggest jokes I've ever heard. Then again, I shouldn't be entirely surprised coming from Scandinavian feminists.

Typical feminists, anything that men can do better than them must be banned.
There's famine, oppression, autocracy, fascism, gulags, AIDS, cholera and religious persecution around right now, today, in the world. And yet these clowns find time to worry about this. Are these people totally insane - and if not, I'd quite like to know just what does qualify as totally insane.

This is truly on a par with bigendian / littleendian.

This has been going on in schools for some time now, they train the boys to sit while taking a pee from as young as 3 years old.

It isn't just a Swedish thing though, has started spreading to other Scandinavian countries, was shocked a few weeks ago when my 7 year old son told us that the school encouraged the boys to sit to pee and it wasn't just happening in 1 school but many schools.

Anybody else think the Left are just a complete joke these days? Not even just in the UK, but everywhere.

A large section of it is completely insane, but I'm still willing to call myself left-wing liberal, because I believe in things like liberty, parliamentary democracy, social welfare and the like. I just don't believe in the sheer idiocy that the left has come out with; things like cultural relativism and progressive racism. I also don't have much respect for what a lot on the left say about the West (and capitalism).

I just know that even if I'm not left-wing, I'm also certainly not right-wing, because I don't believe in monarchy, social conservatism, drug laws and things like that.

Another point is that I think the left often have a very hard time distinguishing good from evil.

As soon as boys started regularly using our toilets in our (female) uni house, cleaning them became a lot more disgusting. That's all I'm going to say.

But what does this do for women or feminism? Nothing.
This is the problem of Western feminism. It has moved from valid issues like the right to vote, work and so on and transformed into this weird anti-male and anti-biology philosophy. Feminism is important but I prefer to say I am egalitarian these days because no self-respecting man should associate with this wing of the feminist movement because it's insane and aggressive towards us. being a male radical feminist is like being a black republican or a muslim EDL member - completely against your rational self-interest.

I don't know and to be honest neither does the school as I believe they are simply following orders which came from elsewhere.

Also I won't say it is a left-wing idea as this policy came out in Sweden quite recently and Sweden has had a centre-right government for much longer than that and Norway just recently elected a centre-right government as well.

As for what it does for women or feminism, in my opinion it's all about power and that's it.
What a farce. I would also dispute that sitting down at the toilet is more hygienic, the male/female would be touching a toilet covered with germs, so I cannot see how it is more sanitary.

There is probably an element of truth to that Freudian argument.
Teach women to pee standing up is the obvious solution....

They've had to take this stand since Their beloved Soviet Union broke up and they realised that nobody was listening to them anymore.

Now that our economy is fuelled by more intellectual professions than manual ones, and that this is complimented by more gender-even access to education and employment, the playing-field has been well and truly levelled. No longer can men claim natural dominance in the important areas of life: we must earn it, and this is becoming increasingly difficult, given that women mature earlier and are often harder-working, more intelligent, and live longer. The pendulum has swung the other way, and the Y chromosome is looking stumpier than ever.

The urinal is the last bastion of male dominance. It represents a glorious natural advantage. We must cling to it.
Will hovering be allowed?

Wouldn't be against legislation of this sort. I've always thought peeing from standing and 'shaking off' was less sanitary, and it's obviously messier. Also in favour of progress towards genderless toilets.
What next, forcing men to put the toilet seat down too? Fascists.
I always failed to imagine how men pee in toilets at all. They don't seem to be designed with men in mind, at least for peeing. I can somehow only imagine men peeing in urinals. Sitting down OR standing up to pee into a toilet just seems too difficult a task.
