The main British political parties, and why they suck.

I have so far gathered this much about the main political parties in England:

Conservative Party (Tories) – A bunch of old, money-loving, socially detached fatcats working in the interests of big business and corporations. Voted for by snooty, middle/upper class white folk and old people.

Labour Party – Left-wing socialist party with ironically biased ‘equality’ regimes. Middle/high-income white men beware. Voted for by the working class and ethnic minorities.

Liberal Democrats – Progressive and idealistic, but without any backbone or a sense of pragmatism. They tend to lie and make false promises. Voted for by young people and the politically ‘enlightened’.

Also:

The Green Party - Eco-freaks and hippies out for a greener, gayer world. Voted for by hippies, tree-huggers, and the good people of Brighton.

British National Party (BNP) - Fourth Reich, anyone? Voted for by skinheads, racists, homophobes, and Neo-Nazies

UK Independence Party (UKIP) - A slightly more cynical conservative party consisting mostly of Tory turncoats who really, really hate the EU. Voted for by closet racists, climate change deniers, and the cynically inclined.

Is that about right? Who do you support? :colone:

Just realised I miss-typed "they" in the title. Ugh...
Mate that's the biggest load of trash I have ever read. You expect to sum up an organisation in a couple of sentences, and of the descriptions you make of these parties, I find them to be simplistic and untrue.

All parties are made by people, and people are easily corruptible in this system whereby money = influence, money = the freedom to live the high life.

Labour is not a leftist/socialist party. There is no such thing as left/right anymore on the electoral ballot in the UK. There is only the continuing merger of state and corporate powers, paid for by we the people.
So lets look at what the Tories have achieved. Increased tax rates for the rich. Lowered the tax rates for the poor and also attempting to close tax avoidance loop holes that corporations use.

Their actions so far seem to be completely opposite to what you claim they stand for.

For the Conservative Party you forgot mediocre lower middle and middle class people who became comfortably off but read the Daily Mail and begrudge anyone who receives benefits (even though they benefited from free university education decades ago) and the solution to anything is "get back to work!".

But otherwise, :congrats:

I don't support any of them. British politics sucks.

I don't mean this offensively, I just see you defend a lot of the Conservative policies on here.

Before the election, the Conservatives had pledged to increase the inheritance tax limit to £1 million – with both Mr Osborne and David Cameron saying that the right to pass on untaxed assets was a “most basic human instinct”.

You do know that their actions have penalised rich even more with that U turn? Hardly exactly looking after the rich by penalising the poor is it.

My issue with teh OP is that he seems to be under the impression that the Tory Party shaft the poor to benefit the rich. So far they've manged to do the complete opposite and also done more than Labour did in creating sustainable jobs in the private sector than Labour did.

Labour is no longer the 'poor man's' party, as mentioned before. Alas, no respectable mildly socialist party is out there; they'd have my vote.

No I don't, and I've never voted Conservative in my life. I just get sick and tired of people saying something that is completly wrong when the evidence says completly the opposite.

I could have sworn that was your forte.
I must say, you've understood the mindset of the typical British voter very well :tongue: I would personally disagree with several of these definitions however. Your approximation of UKIP in particular is overly simplistic: there's a lot more to it than anti-immigration policies and Euroscepticism. I would not currently vote for them, but they provoke areas of valid, constructive debate normally shunned by mainstream parties who would previously patronise or denounce those who wished to discuss them. They have brought politicians to the table over many arguments that they would before have squirmed away from.
