Medicine - gcse grades at oxbridge

how much do GCSEs count at oxbridge? I know its a longshot but i've had my heart set on oxford as both my parents studied there
At gcse (im in year 12) i got 6A*s and 4As (having got the As in IGCSE chemistry, english lang, OCR history and edexcel art) if i get 4 A's at as level, what are my chances? i do a lot of medicine related work, planning a medicine related epq, run a medic soc in school and volunteer with disabled children. I do not play instruments higher than grade 4 and have no real competitive sports.

I have moved your thread to medicine where you will receive more responses.

Oxford use a combination of your percentage and number of A*s at GCSE and your BMAT performance. The average successful candidate in recent years has had over 90% A*s at GCSE, so your results would not really be competitive there. Cambridge is an option if you perform well at AS level (>90% UMS) - they require 3 sciences to at least AS though, don't know if you will be doing this?

I've asked the mods to move your post to the medicine forum where you'll get more specialised advice. You need some medical work experience as well as your volunteering in order to have a competitive application for anywhere.

Does the fact I did igcses have any bearing/consideration? they are supposedly harder but the boundaries are lower
I've done work experience in a endoscopy ward, have some lined up in a renal ward this summer. I'm taking english lit, maths, chemistry and biology this year, will drop english and I'm planning on doing an EPQ which is medicine based.
I looked at the oxford medicine stats page and I don't seem to have much chance but I'm going to apply on the off chance next year anyway! Thank you!!
