So in terms of the statements is the 20 lines 1600 characters including spaces between characters of just characters?

Same with the 47 lines 4000 characters on the main statement.

Congratulations on your offer!! Do you have any advice for the interview? I have one coming up in January for Primary at Man Met

I applied to man met too and thinking it could be my first choice. When you got offered an interview how did they get in touch with you? Email or post? Just so I know what to look out for lol

Yea my track says the same.

Just a bit uneasy as I'm applying for secondary English. Had a bit of a nightmare with one reference so got a late start... Keeping calm but would like some news this side of Christmas!

What are you applying for?

I can imagine how you feel!

I am applying for secondary MFL, so I am calmer than you

I don't mind at all - I used to work for IBM, supporting a large international project (thus the travel) but left that in October. Since then I have been mainly volunteering in schools since I had no recent experience, and doing some evening nannying to earn some pennies - though thankfully my husband has a fairly decent job. What about you?
I am really not feeling prepared yet - the teaching task doesn't worry me too much (I did a Drama degree with quite a large performance focus, so standing in front of large groups isn't a problem) - my concern is the critical analysis of the paper - I haven't had to do anything that academic in a while!

I work for Waitrose head office, in finance - so no problems at all with the numeracy skills test! I actually found it much easier than the literacy one, although I did English Language at A level, just because maths is very black and white, and things like the comprehension task seem a bit subjective. Also, I am a fan of the Oxford comma, which I don't think the skills test people are :colondollar:

I've never really been bothered about standing up in front of people (also did drama when younger, but AmDram stuff rather than a degree - that was in Graphics), so that's not bothering me too much. And I've been co-running a Rainbows group for a couple of years, so am used to dealing with groups of small children, which is helpful. Like you, I haven't had to do academic analysis in ages so I'm worried how I'll compare to recent and new grads who are used to thinking in those terms. Have to keep reminding myself that the extra maturity and life-experience has got to be worth something as well.

Honestly don't worry it was quite laid back!
The presentation you only do in groups of three and also the group discussion is only in threes!
Just think about behaviour issues, what makes a lesson good etc those kind of ideas. Can't say anything specific but try not to be too nervous!

Hi, new to the thread. One of my choices is the Bishop Rawstone schools direct route. It's my first choice and it's the only one I haven't heard back from. It's probably a long shot, but anyone else applied there and heard anything yet? This process really does bring out your impatient side!!

I live just down the road from that school and did some work exp there! I didn't apply this year, but I know someone who did last year and she heard back within a week, but the system has changed since then so maybe a bit longer is normal. What subject have you applied for?

Yes I am <img src="images/smilies/smile.png" border="0" alt="" title="" smilieid="1" class="inlineimg" /> I will look out for you!
I've passed my Literacy test, my Numeracy is booked for early next year as I definitely need time to revise for it! Have you? Just thinking about the whole process makes me so nervous!

I've got both of mine booked in for January! I'm most worried about the article! Do we have to just talk about it? The word present is making me worry incase me are meant to do more than just talk about it. Do you think we can take in notes to help us?
Feeling down. Had an amazing interview on Thursday and seemed to go great, she told me she would let me know Thursday afternoon or a Friday morning by either email or UCAS, so far nothing :-( I know that no news is good news, but losing hope :-(

I found out through UCAS track first, although I had to go on there to look, I didn't receive any kind of notification email! They then emailed me, I think it was the same day.

Thanks! I will try not to get too nervous. I have a lot of time to prepare so just need to ensure I'm hot on educational issues!

I know how you feel. I had an interview on the 3rd that went really well and they said that I'd hear within a week. It'll be two weeks this Tuesday but I still haven't heard anything! With each day, I get a little less confident... :frown:

Less prepared than I would like to be! I have a 4/5 hour train journey up tomorrow though, so will have plenty of time to sit and read through materials and think of answers to likely questions

This afternoon is prep time for the teaching task (still not sure if I've chosen the right thing for that, guess I'll find out on Monday...eep!), and then some more reading around the academic paper. Do you mind me asking what you currently do? I'm oddly a bit nervous about going back to university and that it'll be full of new and nearly-grads and I'll just feel old and out of place (felt a bit like that at the post-grad evening in Winchester where they were recommending talking to your tutor for references!)...

Don't worry at all about being out of uni for a bit/a bit older than some on the course. I was a new graduate only 21 but I felt really young on the course! Also, my friends were mostly in their 30s with families. No-one cares about different ages or experiences, it's just interesting to hear what people have taken from all the stuff they've done before

xxx
So I realised that when you get an 'unsuccessful' you can click on the word 'primary' (or whatever your course is) and they can provide a reason. My reason that SD rejected me was that it "wasn't clear that I had gained 2 weeks work experience within the last 12 months." Well apparently they didn't feel like quickly emailing me to confirm what it says on my application and that I've been doing a day a week for the past 3 years which is well over 10 days (2 weeks) in the past 12 months! Really annoyed that they haven't read my application properly. There's only one place for the school but it's still got vacancies!
Oh well, looking forward to my interview at Edge Hill where I'll knock their socks off.

So I tried to take my skills tests this morning and couldn't because the test centre had no electricity!! So annoying because I wanted to pass them before my two interviews next week!!

Omg I had the exact same problem! Bloody Guildford lol! I just wanted the tests to be out of the way before interview :frown:

I certainly am hoping so! I will read through it all before I get there so may have some of it in short term memory, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do a presentation on something so complex without any notes to hand!

Good luck to you
