Who has applied for Undergraduate Social Work 2014

Hi all,

just wondering if anyone has applied for Undergraduate Social Work 2014. I am currently finishing my access to social work through home learning and have experience in a magistrates court, care home, youth work and pre-school experience.

I will be applying to London Metropolitan, Middlesex, East London, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

Look forward to hearing from some of you soon!!

Congrats, well done
How did they go?
Were they written assessments then invite back for interview if you pass or all day assessments?
What questions did they ask you and have they offered you any places yet?

Thanks.
Teesside went horrible. Was my first interview. I was physically sick in the interview room. Sunderland went really well! Northumbria was okay. Teeside was a written assessment then an individual interview on the same day. Sunderland was a written assessment, group interview and then an individual interview all on the same day. Northumbria was just a written exercise. I'll find out soon if I've got an interview which will be in January. All of the uni's pretty much asked the same - why do you want to be a social worker, what are the values of social work, what skills and qualities can you bring?, what is social work? Some uni's asked me specific questions like what three qualities would your best friend say you have? What is safeguarding? What preparation have you done for the course? So far no offers! Should hear in between January and March

Hey guys this is my first post on this website!

I have an interview for undergraduate social work tomorrow at the Luton campus (University of Bedfordshire). I haven't had a university interview before and I live in the Midlands so I'm travelling 2 hours in the morning. What I want to ask is what is the group discussions like?

I imagine for a social work degree people are older (I'm 18) is this always the case? I think I'd prefer if people are older than me rather than the same age in interview.

I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow D:

Group discussions are relaxed. You'll get a chance to talk to everyone before your interview so! Just listen but talk also. Find the balance. And input social work knowledge into what you say. Most people are older. I'm only 19 and there were lots of people older than me at my interviews!

Ah that's great thanks! I'm quite happy really because I have to do an essay, then group discussion, then reflective writing then if I pass all that - final interview! I think I'll be more relaxed on the final interview because I will have been at the uni for a few hours - so hopefully my nerves won't be as jumpy!

I'm nervous about it! What kind of questions did it ask? It's all just knowledge about current news stories involving social care and such things isn't it?
