C2 indicies

Hello everybody

I'd be really grateful if someone could help me a little with this question.

1)Write 2\sqrt 2 as a power of 2. So I did 2122^\frac{1}{2}

The second part of the question is where I get a little stuck:
2)"Hence write 424\sqrt 2 as a power of 2.

So I went back to 2122^\frac{1}{2} but with the multiple of 4, so 4×2124 \times 2^\frac{1}{2} giving 8128^{\frac{1}{2}} & then to make this have a base of 2 (813)12(8^\frac{1}{3})^{\frac{1}{2}} adding the third and a half a got 5/6 so 2562^\frac{5}{6}...but this is the wrong answer. I'd be grateful if anyone could help me out a little!

Thanks
Marc

I'm going to pretend I didn't read that as I don't want to have nightmares.

42=22×2124\sqrt 2=2^2 \times 2^{\frac{1}{2}}

Yes I can :smile: 22×212=2522^2 \times 2^{\frac{1}{2}} = 2^{\frac{5}{2}}

Thanks guys. Mr M, please don't be mad at me :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Indices

Mr M & TenOfThem, thanks very much. My first thread!
