What are the PEOPLE who go to private schools like, versus state schools?

I know there has been a thread on private schools versus state schools, but I was wondering if anyone, who has preferably been to both, could tell me if there are any differences in what the people are like, their friendlinesses, personalities, attitudes and any snobbery (if applicable). Did you feel welcome when you arrived? Was bullying more/ less common?

I'm just interested to find out as I know there are a lot of misconceptions in this area.

Thanks

They look down upon us lower breeds.

I walked past HalleBerry School (or however you spell it) once, and I got beaten by the students with their sticks. I have a bruise above my right nipple

I have mainly interacted with private school boys rather than girls. They like cricket.

That is about the only thing I have found they have in common. There is a major emphasis on sports at private schools. Aside from that, there's a general ease about them when it comes to networking and socialising, even if sometimes they are too comfortable and end up coming across as arrogant pricks :h:

Loads of people in priavte schools are so socially awkward/arrogant, from someone who goes to a private school
I've got to admit sometimes private and grammar schools look down on the others, they are well educated and intellectual though, although in some cases it questionable
My cousin who goes is naive of the world. He think everyone gets As and is always willing to work hard, listen and everyone has contacts in high places. Hr also couldn't belive 15 year olds had 'done the intercourse thingy' as he put it. His frienda are exactly the same. They're 17.

How would they react to a newcomer?

I go to a private school and I have to say we don't hold a very high opinion of state school kids who are generally animals/chavs etc. Don't get me wrong some state schools are decent but on the whole the people there are just unpleasant.

In general private school kids (sixth formers) aren't all that bad, they tend to work hard and have some form of an aim in life. Sometimes though they do come across as a bit naive and condescending especially when they go out of their way to be seen sticking up for 'normal' people..i guess since the majority of them havent hard many struggles financially etc they cant really relate to people below their financial status..basically their 'problems' arent really problems...i think generally it's just a lack of awareness....initially fitting in is quite hard unless you yourself are considered 'upper class' but without a doubt there will be someone who you can relate to...

Me and my mate were in a private school the other day judging their debate. We both went to comps

Op: Generally they're more confident and a bit more naive in my experience, the difference is far from drastic.
I am passionate about my studies and academics, I have high career and educational aspirations, I don't do many sports but I'm willing to learn and to do things like rowing, swimming and cricket and I live in a single parent council house. How would I be accepted?!

I go to a private all-girls

Pros:
-Ambitious and intelligent (mostly)
-Often genuinely really nice people
-Most of them aren't snobby or condenscending, they're just normal

Cons:
-Lot of bitchiness and sluttery
-Hierarchies, exclusion and social climbers
-A small minority of horrible, spiteful, often super-rich, condescending fartbags
What sort of people are popular at private schools?

Most people who go to private schools are pretty much normal. The only universal tendencies I see in the girls in my school are general intelligence, a tendency towards OCD, and occasional indulgence in attention-seeking

You don't have to do fifteen different types of croquet and wear a trilby hat to be accepted. You will be absolutely fine.
The one thing that stands out to me whenever I meet people from private school is their confidence. I attended an award ceremony once where a large majority were privately educated and I was completely surprised when random people approached me, asking to shake my hand and asking me my name and stuff.

You'll be fine, just be yourself! You don't need to pretend to be something you're not :h:

From my experience, the most popular people tend to be:

-Smart
-Rich (ranges from mildly well-off to platinum mansion)
-Extroverted
-Party girls
-A little bit cold (you always feel a bit distanced from them)

But literally everyone here is in a friendship group of at least 4/5 people and basically get on with it there - it's grouped up but not insular. It's a good little atmosphere.
