What sort of books did they have in the prison library? Fiction, self-help, academic?

Their library was huge. They had everything. A lot of people in prison do degrees, and they get a lot of book donations from academic institutions. They had all the new fiction books.

Can you do this mission for me?

My first night in prison was the worst.

I will leave it here for now. I think I'm boring you all :frown:

You're not boring anyone. Don't worry.

Probably the best user AMA we've ever had here imo.

I could. But I wouldn't.

I was raised in a family that hated religion. At 18 I became a born again Christian. At around 23 I lost faith totally and never went back.

I believe there is a grand designer of the universe, I just don't feel it's the guy portrayed in the religions we have today. I believe we have a soul, and it goes beyond this life. I believe in a life after death. What that life is though I couldn't tell you. I'm deep into near death experiences, and astral travel.

Now that'd be cheating  I completed those missions years ago. I find http://projecteuler.net/ more challenging and interesting.
what language would you recommend for someone wanting to get into the programming of systems? , those to do with physical devices in the real world.

Start with C, progress to C++ if you want to get into programming physical devices. I'm guessing you're talking about embedded programming. Much of embedded programming is done in C, and in some cases assembly. Defiantly C and C++ if you're heading down that route.

ah thats cool, i have some really good introductory books on c++, but its nice to hear some reassurance about it, as lots of people were telling me that there is really no point learning it now

I think this makes an interesting read, I'd read a book on your life experiences.

This

http://www.amazon.co.uk/C-Programming-Language-2nd/dp/0131103628

And this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/C-Programming-Language-Bjarne-Stroustrup/dp/0321563840/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1390603681&sr=1-1&keywords=the+c%2B%2B+programming+language

Are the best books on C/C++ imho. Ignore people that say they're not worth learning.

Thank you. I wish I could write, or find the time to get my experiences down on paper.

I'm not a Linux user. I use FreeBSD and a Mac. If I had to pick a distribution, I'd pick Debian. It's the one I've work with the most and enjoy the most.

As for Socialism, I'm all for it. Putting the power back into the community. It's in the right direction towards "freedom".

I'll try get a photo of my bookcase, so many books it's unreal. My most expensive book is Preconscious Processing ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Preconscious-Processing-Norman-F-Dixon/dp/047127982X ... I got it for a bargain at £220. Some manage to sell it for over £500.
