How much money would you spend on your partner on valentines day?

Just curious on what amount roughly people spend on their partner on Valentines?

I personally haven't ever really acknowledged valentines day regardless of whether I was in a relationship or not. Talking to a couple of colleagues today, it seems as though some couples spend more extravagantly on valentines presents than on birthday presents.

Would the amount you spend on valentines increase depending on how long you've been a "couple"? A friend told me he wouldn't spend much on his girlfriend but would probably spend more if she was a girl that he fancied and was attempting to initially impress.

if it were a year+relationship then I'd probably go up to £100 unless I decided that I really wanted to get her something expensive like some jewellery or something.
If it were like 6months then I'd probably spend £0 and just expect to have a nice night in really

I'd happily pay for a meal, so whatever that costs, but actual valentines presents are usually total crap and I wouldn't mind if we came to an agreement where we didn't buy them.

I just get him a card and maybe chocolates or something. It's not really much of a big deal for us :dontknow:

we'd much rather spend more on each other's birthdays. Valentine's day has become too commercialised for it to be anything meaningful now.

My boyfriend & I have been together for 2 years and although we get each other cards for Valentines Day, it's our anniversary 3 weeks before and his birthday 3 days later so we normally don't bother with presents.

My boyfriend and I buy cards, and set a limit of £10 each. Both of our birthdays are in December, so we get at least £100 each over birthdays and Christmas. Plus, our anniversary is in March and we'd rather splash out or go away for it.

my husband wants to spend at least £30 on present for me even though I said no presents this year (at least for me, I'd rather just have an all in one birthday present in two months)

I've yet to decide what to get him.

as for amount increasing/decreasing depending on how long a couple has been together, I guess that depends on income and the couple's mutual agreement. time together doesn't really have anything to do with it. personally our first valentines together was a bit extravagant and this year were trying to keep it simple so it has decreased (four years together)

Under a tenner just on some chocolates or something. We'd then have like a nice night in where I'd cook a meal or something.

My friends go crazy and spend stupid amounts for their GF's on Valentines, birthdays and Christmas. I just don't really see the point at this age.

Not too much. This year maybe a little more since we have been dating 15 months instead of just 4. Thinking around 30. 15 for lingerie, and 15 to send him a little gift (LDR atm so won't see him on the actual day). Want to send him a little something, and then the lingerie for when we actually get to see each other in March. :smile:

We spend more on birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas than Valentine's. He got me tickets to the theatre for our first V-day, which must have been pretty expensive, but since then we've usually just had a quiet night in.
