Just got put down as "Withdrawn" for one of my choices (Newman Secondary English). When I asked why, they stated the course was full.

1) Shouldn't they have updated it as full earlier?
2) Why isn't my application just "Declined" instead of "Withdrawn?"
3) Can I substitute it for another choice?

Got an interview at Worcester on Monday, which I'm so nervous about. Especially since I haven't heard back from my other choice, so it could be my one shot.

Yeah. I already had my interviews but needed to firm my offers soon!

Decided to firm with no specialism. Hope it doesnt put me in too much of a disadvantage :/

I did wonder really the whole point of specialising in something. No one seemed to be able to give me a definite answer about it!

It really is a very uni based thing. Some specialisms at some unis will
Help with some things! I did a maths specialism within my PGCE course, and it will probably help me if I want to become a maths subject leader at some point soon, and can help me sell myself as a teacher of maths. But it's not like I wouldn't be able to do it without the specialism. Some specialisms are more substantial, or specific, or give you specific experience which can really help.

Hi guys!

I have an interview for IOE very soon. Any basic tips? Anyone else had an interview there? Very nervous.
Got an offer from Goldsmiths for PGCE Secondary Maths, now just waiting for King's to reply.

You don't have to respond to any offers until all of you choices have given you offers/decline you (unless you want to) - then you have up to 10 days to reply to one
Are you sure?!?
As I rang my third choice today and they informed me that I have to respond to offers within 10 days of the offers being sent out!!!

Music girl is right. It's ten days from receiving ALL your offers. Your uni must have misunderstood you.

Thanks if this is the case then, I can then go to my third interview early March and decide from then (if I am successful).
Had my interview at Sunderland today. Not sure how it went but am trying to consider what I'd choose if stuck between a SCITT offer (which I already have) and a traditional PGCE (which I might receive). Anyone have any advice? I feel like there's a lot of confusing information out there, and if I'm offered a place at Sunderland then I don't have very long to decide.

It really is a very personal thing. I know that a uni based PGCE was definitely the right option for me because I needed that support of all the other PGCE students who I have made great friends with (and still do need their support), I needed the grounding in theory and to see all the different ideas and WHY they are important, I needed the support of a variety of different tutors with different knowledge and expertise. I have gained so much from all of this and uni really helped me pull it all together and make sense of it. I feel like if I had been school based it would have limited me to picking up mostly what I've seen on placements and not being able to evaluate it as much, be kind of trained to what that school thinks rather than a more general overview. Also I'd feel very much thrown in the deep end!!!

But all this is just me. Others will be very different. Plus, the SCITTs vary a lot... Some of them buy in to the majority of the local PGCE anyway, which makes a difference and eliminates some of the issues I mentioned above.

You have to take part in a group discussion! And the questions are based on all national curriculum subjects! Some people were sent home yesterday before the afternoon session!

Hi, anyone else waiting for Manchester uni to get back for primary PGCE? I had my interview last Friday and keep manically refreshing my email and checking UCAS. Does anyone know how long they usually take to get back to you?

When did you submit your application? I submitted mine on the 3rd and I've heard from the school direct I've applied to, but nothing at all from both Middlesex and UEL. Not sure if I should be worried?

Have you heard from Middlesex?
