Really starting to slow down a lot now... went into town, barely managed half an hour without needing a wee, and I just felt so heavy! I'm 29 weeks tomorrow... it's getting so close!
I am going to de-anon myself so I can add a picture. Genuinely my belly has never been this fat which increased my anxiety. I read ALL about cervical positioning and tested it recently and it seems low and firm but then others said it was rubbish.

Having never seen your stomach before it is hard to comment. I think it is very unlikely that you are pregnant. However as it appears to be a considerable anxiety I think your best bet is the GP.

We bought our first baby books today! I got two books - Oh the places you'll go! by Dr Seuss and Giraffes can't dance. Both bought as they're rhythmic with the intention of reading them to the baby when I'm 20 weeks along - or however far along you are when the baby can start hearing things.

I feel a little like I'm tempting fate by buying things so early but it's difficult not to!

I love Giraffes can't Dance! Julia Donaldson is amazing, a bit of a hero! Her books are lovely, my personal favourite is 'What the Ladybird Heard'. Monkey Puzzle is a nice one for a new baby. x

I will look that one up too  We'll definitely get plenty of books nearer the time too - I have a bit of a fantasy of having ALL the Dr. Seuss books, because I love him and as a kid I didn't really get read to much or have many books, so I guess I have some making up to do.

Starting to get super excited - it's so hard not telling people! The only person who knows (other than my partner, obvs) is my best friend, who I speak to over the phone, but it's hard not mentioning this HUGE thing to other people. We're waiting until the 13 week scan though, just to be safe.

Speaking of, so excited about that. I saw today that by 12 weeks you can often actually see the baby moving around in there? Amazing. Was looking at the little scan pic I have already and trying to make more of it out.
I really need to remember to uncheck the anonymous box.

At our 13 week scan baby was sucking its thumb and when the sonographer got me to move around to try and get it to change position it then turned away from us as if to say leave me alone. By 20 weeks though you can see the legs moving as you feel the kicking

That's amazing. It'll be nice to get a glimpse of the movement - obviously later on when I can actually *feel* it, it'll be something that won't surprise me to see it on the scan, but it'll be nice to have that reminder that the baby's actually doing stuff inside me even at 13 weeks. Other than feeling ill and achey a lot, it's sometimes difficult to remember there's actually something in there right now. The fact that it's moving and doing things makes it feel more like a little person and not just a 'thing', if you know what I mean.

Setting off for my first non-booking midwife appointment in ten minutes, and should be getting my blue notes. If I don't, I'm going to be very angwy . They seem to have gotten 'lost in the system', or something.
hey guys how is it all going?

Kater did you get your blue notes?

balloon parade - Julia Donaldson books are the bane of my existence lol. Not that I have anything really against them, they're nice books, it's just that this one teacher at my kids' school is OBSESSED with them.
Alex had her when he was in Reception, and then he had a different teacher in Year 1, and now he's in Year 2 and he has the reception teacher again (they swapped all the teachers and classes around), and this woman is just ludicrously obsessed with Julia Donaldson, so literally every piece of homework he was given in Reception, and so far in Year 2, has been based on this woman and her books.

So it's a bit of an overkill lol
I did get my blue notes! Thank God. Scan is in just under two weeks now

So, what's happened recently is my partner's aunt is really ill, and basically she's offered to buy us stuff for the baby on her card now because after she dies (which is probably going to happen in the next few weeks or so) it'll all be inheritance-taxed at something like 40% or so (French law, not UK).

Anyway, obviously we would usually have waited a fair bit longer than this to get a buggy, but now I'm starting to look and I'm just like argh how can I make this decision so soon? I don't even really know what to look for. I want something that can do rear and parent facing even past the pram-stage, and ideally something relatively easy to fold up but not really filmsy either - don't like those canvassy style buggies. Don't mind spending up to about £500. Any ideas?

So far the best one seems to be the Oyster 2, but it's got no reviews online because it's so new and the first Oyster had a few really bad ones in amongst the good ones. If it weren't for the fact that it doesn't do parent-facing, the Phil and Ted's Dot looks amazing.

Sigh.

Wish I could advise you on the pram situation. We always just go for what we can afford (which is nowhere near up to £500!) so we never have really fancy ones, so I haven't a clue about the parent facing type ones.

Nathan is still parent facing but only because he's still in his infant carrier, which clips into the pram. When he outgrows that (which will be soon), he'll just have to be forward facing.

Also - sorry to hear about your partner's aunt being so ill :frown:
WE HAVE A TOOTH!!!

He kept me awake ALL night last night, I'm so shattered. Then today, bam, a tooth. His first tooth. I'm praying for a better sleep tonight!
Unfortunately my partner's aunt passed away in her sleep last night, so our big rush on Saturday to find the right pushchair wasn't really needed anyway. We did settle on something though, which I'm pleased with - the Stokke Scoot: http://www.stokke.com/en-gb/stroller/stokke-scoot/product-information.aspx

Aww I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Were your partner and her close?

What a fantastic pram though, my partner and I have been looking (mum will buy it for us but I'd rather it be from Gumtree or something than new...) and I've fallen a little in love with the Bebecar Ip Op.

I swear the shopping is the best part of pregnancy!
We are borrowing a silvercross 3D which we should get next week
Sorry to hear of your loss Kater :frown:

Think we've got just about everything for the baby. My hospital bag is very nearly packed (was taken in last week, and my boyfriend had a rush to get everything together so he got me to pack my bag just in case  )

Midwife tomorrow and growth scan a week today. I had glucose in my wee at the hospital; if it happens again I need another GTT apparently!! I'm more concerned about the fact that my scar is stretched to breaking point. Going to see what they suggest but everyone at the hospital seemed to be leaning towards a section.
Hope everyone's okay.

I come in here every now and again to check especially as we will be TTC in the next year or so, and I like to get an idea of what to expect.

Bit of a bad day for me really. Had an incident last night which resulted in me thinking there may be a slight risk of pregnancy. Morning after pill is usually a no no no for me for various reasons, but I just couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of pregnancy, and how it would absolutely not be the right thing for me right now (partner's boyfriend is currently in a specialist hospital on the other side of the country, and will be for a number of months, so all of our efforts need to go into keeping him better - and we will have to look after him for quite some time when he comes home, too) and I made the decision that for once in my life I had to take some responsibility for my actions. So I've taken it, am overwhelmed with guilt.. but at least I can relax about getting pregnant now.

I know it wouldn't be the end of the world if it happened now - and if I'd had my way after I graduated I would have already had a baby - but there's just no denying that there are other things that need our attention, so I feel that it's the best thing I could have done in the circumstances. Wish I had someone to talk to properly about it, but all of my friends in real life are men.. and they'd probably just take the mick. And I don't even have Facebook anymore to send a message to anyone else! Oh well I guess I can just stress in private (but not, thankfully, about pregnancy).
Right, for some reason I am unable to get in contact with any form of Health Visitor so I come to TSR to ask!

My Daughter is 5 weeks old tomorrow, and being a large baby at birth currently weighs a more than respectable 11'11 and being a wee bit greedy is insisting on 9-10 4 ounce feeds a day.
Given that most babies her age are having 6 3 ounce feeds, this is understandably causing a bit of hassle for my wife and I.

We were thinking of moving to "Hungry Baby Formula" to maybe reduce her demand, but I have heard that with some babies so young it can cause painful constipation and stomach pains and as she is a very windy baby already this is something we want to avoid.

Does anyone have any experience in this, any advice about which way we should go?
