Aaah! I've done it - I've firmed Manchester and picked Sheffield as my insurance! I'm really happy: I love both, just need to get the grades now ey

Interviews for both yet aha, I have offers from bath and liverpool though.
Hopefully if i do well on my interviews, ill be firming Manchester

Aaah, right Don't worry about it; if they've offered you an interview then you would have gotten an offer, at least that's what they said for Sheffield

Don't be: I was so nervous before them too, especially Manchester because that was my first interview and I've never had an interview for anything before! But it is honestly informal (can't say the same for York though): my interviewer asked me about organic chemistry and told me to draw out a reaction mechanism. But then he didn't know if I was right either because he specialised in inorganic chemistry, so he couldn't remember! Quite funny actually
I think it's just to see how you communicate/think You will definitely get an offer though

The only thing i dont understand about manchester is why ask for AAA for the MChem and only ABB for the bsc when in both you need 60% to stay on the Mchem/or transfer to the Mchem :c

Isn't that what all unis do though? Ask for higher grades for the mChem? In that case, I also have no idea :/

Yeh but most only ask for AAB for the Mchem, but manchester is the only one who ask for two grade's higher :c

I think it's just because of the university name tbh :/

Oooh, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting a lower offer than the standard AAA :/ Then again, plenty of people on here have from other unis though

When choosing firms, can u choose ur insurances later on? Or do u hav to choose firm & insurance in one go?

Y dnt u just insure the AAB from UCL?

Given ur %, wnt u only need like low Bs in 2 subjects to meet the AA part of ur offer?

He said something along the lines of Imperial have better research and facilities (ie labs).

I wanted to only do my firm but I don't think you can. I had a look on UCAS and I think it requires you to pick both firm and insurance at the same time. I'm not 100% sure though!

I was considering that, but I just really loved Imperial, more than UCL whose department was cosy and friendly, but I just can't imagine myself going there for some reason. Imperial just seems right for me.

I haven't really decided which subject to really gun for the A*, so just working towards that in chemistry and maths. Then in further maths I'm just hoping for an A haha, but that was my lowest % for all my AS, like in the low 80's I think, so I have to do well in FP2 which I just despise.

Well in one way ur teacher may be right in that oxford are slightly swayed towards being a little more theoretical in their approach to teaching.

Maths is the easiest A* out of the 3 ur doing and doing FM just gived u that extra maths practice so ur likely to get very high ums in maths regardless.

I felt that the UCL department was like that too, it was really nice, i liked their chemistry building aswell. Imperial had a really nice chemistry department too.

Aha i dont know why but at imperial the atmosphere was somewhat different; it felt more academic. Did u get this too?

Yeh i guess the unconditional feels alright. I just relax these days l0l, thinking about not having any exams.
Although i may complete FM and Additional FM for fun just incase i go to imperial as i hear their course is verryy maths based.

You'll all be fine Do any of you think that the grade boundaries will move this year considering it's the first year that all exams (excluding a very small number) have to be in the June series or do you think there'll be no effect??
