The wait for goldsmiths is agonising for me as well! I have been refreshing my email non stop, even though it's a weekend haha.

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear?

The wait from Goldsmiths is killing me :') but I do remember from somewhere that they should be getting back to applicants by the end of this month  I just hope they do haha.

Hopefully we'll hear by tomorrow then... I'll just be relieved to know even if it's a rejection!

Off topic- Has anyone been to Oxford?? I've heard it's a really arty city and has lovely little coffee shops independently run and is just amazing with the little cobbled streets and shops! Hoping to go to Oxford Brookes - I love my grass and trees, so unfortunately even if I did have a slight chance of an interview at Goldsmiths or even a place I'm honestly not sure I'd take it though it's an amazing opportunity I'm just not a London girl!

I understand. I'm starting to think Goldsmiths isn't for me either. Oxford is a lovely city and the parts I've seen are basically exactly how you described it. The whole city isn't like that of course and there are some more run down areas, but I think even those are pretty nice.

I've been to Oxford and I agree it is a great city and the museums they have are brilliant. Its also a lot quieter than London but its still close for a commute. I haven't heard off goldsmiths yet so I really do hope I find out tomorrow or something haha. I have a conditional from Westminster and I have my Chelsea interview on Monday :') I'm really impatient haha

Good luck for Monday.
Yeah, I was hoping to find out today. If we don't hear tomorrow there's the whole weekend to wait afterwards. :frown:

I thought we'd hear today :frown: My tutor told me not to dwell on it and reminded me that it's really competitive, and that I was lucky I had been offered a place at a good art school. Which basically meant forget about it! So i'm hoping they offer me an interview to prove her wrong if nothing else...
I have an interview at Chelsea on Monday too  Can I ask what work you're taking? And if you're taking any work outside of your portfolio? I've taken some larger works on canvas for two interviews but I had to get a cab to both and can't afford anymore taxis across london! So I was thinking just to take my portfolio and sketchbooks, do you think this will be sufficient?

Haha yeah prove your tutor wrong! That's why I think most people begin to become less interested with goldsmiths because they get bored of waiting :'). Yeah your portfolio and sketchbooks is perfectly fine because if you have to commute into London you don't want to make it difficult for yourself and as long as the paintings are documented you'll be fine  I've had to do that as all my work is installation based. I hope we open our emails tomorrow and find we have an interview!

Last year I got a Goldsmiths interview invitation sent to me 22 days after submitting my online portfolio. The interview date was 1 month after that (the end of March - one of my latest). Certainly don't worry yet! They've got hundreds of people to look great so they are going to take a while!!

Don't forget that unlike many other subjects (most, in fact) they can't do any filtering out on the basis of grades alone. They have to look at everybody's work, and they get thousands of applicants. Think of the man hours required and then realise that no news is just that - no news.
I had my CSM interview today, just to let you know, they're interviewing everyone! Even though they said that only some people get interviews. So be prepared

Congratulations! I got an email off Goldsmiths today and I've been offered an interview for the joint honours :') I couldn't be happier. But its on the same day I planned to travel to Poland as part of my artwork haha so I guess I'm going to have to reschedule.

Well done!!! You must be so happy!
I still haven't heard anything from goldsmiths... Next week I guess.
Hey,
I'm wanting to go to Lincoln university to do Fine Art, I know there's much better universities more specialised for Art degrees but I love the city and really want to study there.
My concern is that I'm wanting to apply without a foundation course. I got A* at gcse and I'm on track for achieving that at A-level aswell. I'm also looking into doing some out of school short courses that could develop my portfolio too in the summer. I restarted my A-levels you see after taking a year out working, so I'm a year behind. I'm wanting to go university next year, like I should be doing, instead of doing this foundation course.
Seeing as Lincoln's entry requirements aren't that high, and it doesn't actually specify you a NEED a foundation course, do you think I could get in?
Anyone else doing an art degree without foundation?
help would be appreciated!!

Congratualtions. What day is your interview? I hope they aren't too late as I really wanted to compare Kingston and Goldsmiths if I get an interview. It sucks that it clashes with your trip.

I know someone who had an offer from Lincoln without a Foundation course. I don't think it's something they particularly care about as long as you have a good portfolio. I would suggest going to an open day and discussing it with the tutors there though. Short courses over the summer are a great idea. I just finished a Saturday course for painting and it was so much more helpful than anything on my foundation/a level courses.
Good luck.
