My interview is the 19th March  bizarrely though they ask you to send your reply to the interview in the post :') but I have my Chelsea interview on Monday so I think I might just go there and speak to someone so they properly understand the situation.

How strange. That's definitely an awkward method if someone needs to change the date. You could always phone them to sort it out but I suppose if you're in the area there's no harm in seeing them.

Well done!!! You must be so happy!
I still haven't heard anything from goldsmiths... Next week I guess.

Congrats! The wait was worth it  I still haven't heard either , but I spoke to someone who is studying there and she said they always take ages getting back to people, and not to worry

Hey,
I'm wanting to go to Lincoln university to do Fine Art, I know there's much better universities more specialised for Art degrees but I love the city and really want to study there.
My concern is that I'm wanting to apply without a foundation course. I got A* at gcse and I'm on track for achieving that at A-level aswell. I'm also looking into doing some out of school short courses that could develop my portfolio too in the summer. I restarted my A-levels you see after taking a year out working, so I'm a year behind. I'm wanting to go university next year, like I should be doing, instead of doing this foundation course.
Seeing as Lincoln's entry requirements aren't that high, and it doesn't actually specify you a NEED a foundation course, do you think I could get in?
Anyone else doing an art degree without foundation?
help would be appreciated!!

I don't think it will be a problem! At the end of the day, if your work is strong enough it will stand for itself. I've been offered unconditional places and am currently studying an HNC, (foundation equivalent) which means they don't care about the completion of the course. Also, Lincoln is not that difficult to get into, I know people who got onto that course without a foundation and with Bs and Cs at level. So don't worry! You only NEED to have done a level 4 course is you are applying for 2nd year.
Your work will speak for itself, so make sure that your portfolio is strong and then you'll walk it  Good luck!

I understand. I'm starting to think Goldsmiths isn't for me either. Oxford is a lovely city and the parts I've seen are basically exactly how you described it. The whole city isn't like that of course and there are some more run down areas, but I think even those are pretty nice.

Aww great news!! Yeah every city has run down areas though so it's all good! Proper excited to actually move to a uni I'll possibly like more!! I've been invited to the applicant day next Saturday so hopefully I'll know as soon as I step onto campus!

What do Goldsmiths look for when they interview/what do they look for in an e-portfolio?
I haven't heard back from them yet but I'm really worried I won't get an interview, it's the only uni I've applied to doing art history AND fine art so a lot depends on me getting in. I've heard some people have got rejected already...

When I went to the open day I spoke to a tutor there who said they love students who are able to show passion for their work and the subject. As long as you've shown that in the portfolio and the essay you submitted shows an interest for this you'll do fine  just stick at it and you'll hear back haha. I applied to the single honours as well as the joint and I haven't heard back from that. They probably have a lot to get through.

Even if I'm lucky enough to get an interview I'm stressing about what they'll ask me if it's about both art history & fine art like they'll keep catching me slipping if they bring up certain periods/movements :/

I imagine they'll ask questions regarding art history but don't be afraid to say you don't know much about certain periods because you can't know everything. Try and steer the conversation towards areas you know about. They'll probably stick to the movements that relate to your work anyway.

And the art history bit of the joint honours course is more 'visual culture' than art history, so it's like how society and culture affects art ect. I remember it sounded like a really interesting course at the open day

I'm still waiting on Chelsea and Goldsmiths too. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.
I'm afraid I don't know much about Metropolitan, sorry. I'd say it isn't as good as the others you've applied to though, but I'm just basing that on the fact I haven't heard of it. Maybe you should ignore me.

Oh yay! Thank god haha. Hmm yeah when I went to the interview I got such a good feel from the place. The tutors were so friendly, facilities are great and the space you get is awesome. I've read that at Chelsea the space is kinda small and there is no dark room facilities for photography which is a little off putting for me. What other unis have you applied for?
They are beginning to reply back to Fine art students now at Goldsmiths I think  I heard off them yesterday. I had my interview at Chelsea yesterday which went well and it is a great uni but I do agree about the studio spaces. The one we were sat in for interview was comparatively smaller than Westminster's and they didn't appear as light either haha. Hope you hear off your other unis soon!

I haven't heard about Metropolitan either, and I also haven't heard back from goldsmiths! They said they'd let us know by the end of feb but there are still a few of us on my foundation waiting to hear back. I only know two people who have heard back! Hopefully it will be this week

i just had a Google of the course and it does look good. If you think it's right for you I wouldn't worry about it's reputation. I definitely agree about Chelsea's studio space and lack of dark room. I've pretty much decided I don't want to go there anymore.
I've applied to Slade, Kingston, Goldsmiths, Brighton and Chelsea.

Glad your interview went well. Did they ask any unusual questions?

They asked me what piece of work I thought was a success and which I found most challenging, where do I intend to take my work next and why I chose Chelsea. The questions were pretty straight forward really. I now just have to wait again :')

Ah, nice straight forward questions. I hope all mine are like that.
I know, just when the waiting finishes, it starts all over again.
