Boy walks free after raping sister

A 12-year-old boy who raped his seven-year-old sister after watching porn online has walked free after a judge ruled he is not a danger to society.

The boy pleaded guilty to rape, two counts of indecent assault and inciting a child to engage in sexual intercourse.

Blackburn Youth Court heard he had viewed hardcore porn films with his friends leading to "a desire to try it out". The sex offences took place between March and May last year.

District Judge James Prowse said the boy, now 13, does not represent a danger to society and it is "highly improbable" he would re-offend given the "unsophisticated" and "immature" reasoning that triggered the attack.

He added that keeping him in custody would "tear the family apart" and expose him to "hardened and sophisticated" youth criminals.

In a statement, the boy said he was "disgusted" with his crimes and promised not to do it again. His sister said she missed him and wants him to return to the house despite feeling "sad" for what he did.

The boy will be placed on the sex offenders register for two-and-a half years. He is set to return to the family home in the coming months with the help of social workers.

Parental blame? Unlikely, he accessed the porn himself and got the motive himself
Removed from care? No, but keep a close eye on him (hence why he is on he sex offenders list for 2.5 yrs)
Monitored/rehab? As above, he is being monitored to a certain extent... No need for rehab unless he cannot stop urge to rape
Society blame? Partially - access to porn is easy and we often see tv programmes or idols becoming more raunchy etc.
-Do the parents share a blame in this?
For not monitoring their childs activities online, yes

-Should the boy be removed to care
depends on the exact details of the case but i assume not

-Should the boy be monitored and or rehabilitated?
he should be offered some counselling alongside his sister

- Is society to be blamed for over sexualisation?
Not necessarily, you have countries who are much tougher on sexualisation i.e Saudi Arabia and you still find gruesome rapes

1.) Yes, most if not all kids don't rape because of watching porn - and even then do it to their own sister.
2.) He is clearly not normal, he certainly needs help because of how he's raised and I doubt he's going to go back to life as if nothing happened.
3.) Yes
4.) No

That said, he's pretty much screwed. He hasn't finished growing up yet and this is going to haunt him. Family relations are going to suck. I can't imagine his sister having a good relationship with him later in life. He'll probably get mocked forever for having committed incest.

But isn't it near impossible to monitor every activity of your child especially in an online world like today's and the peer pressure culture in schools..etc
Parents are struggling to keep a roof over their families and provide for their children can we say in a case such as this that parents have a share of the blame?

Filters. Then if your child wants to go onto a website you ask them the website in question, check it out themselves and then add it to the list of allowed websites.

Xboxes have parental controls as well. If Xboxes now have browsers, which I wasn't aware of unless they're on about the Xbox 720p, then you just have to deactivate it or apply the same filter system.

I'm thankful my parents didn't filter the internet. I was able to access porn and wasn't driven to rape relatives of mine. It's people like this 13 year old, and whatever values taught to him by his parents, is what ruins everything for the rest of us.
There was a thread on here not long ago berating the government for trying to take steps to stop kids accessing hardcore. What we see here is what it can lead to if you leave it up to the parents alone to monitor.
A lot of people are more worried about losing their own access to porn, than stopping their kids accessing it.

Rape.
There's nothing wrong with incest as long as the two siblings consent.

1) Yes.
2) Not necessary in my opinion because...
3) Absolutely. This will curb the need for him to be placed into care.
4) No. Definitely not.

Yes but shouldn't parents sit down and explain relationships, emotions and the 'birds & the bees' so to speak to their children when they reach the age around 10 before moving up into secondary school with older children & teenagers? Porn is not a 'bad' thing if you understand what it is, what it's for, emotions behind it and understand sex should be consensual.
- Do the parents share a blame in this?
Partially, but I don't know the full details of the case. It is disturbingly easy for children to access porn somewhere, somehow, no matter how many filters and restrictions you put upon them. At face value the parents could simply have been naive, as many are.
- Should the boy be removed to care
Again, without knowing everything, no depending on the circumstances of the family. Not because of this.
- Should the boy be monitored and or rehabilitated?
Without question.
- Is society to be blamed for over sexualisation?
In some ways yes.

I'm surprised he could even have sex at 12; I doubt it was the kind of rape you'd typically associate with the term. However, I have no doubt that the kid is a little **** and the parents have put zero effort into raising him. He should certainly be monitored; the family is obviously pretty ****, so it wouldn't be a bad thing for him to be taken away from the home really. It's bad that kids are accessing porn from that age and below. I don't think that is anything to do with sexualisation of society though, nothing at all.
Western society, all I can say. They advocate this filth and then complain when it back fires?

Ha whatever. The vast majority of people who indulge in porn don't go out and rape others. What about other societies where rape is used in acts of terrorism, war or what goes on behind closed doors in societies where the woman is still deemed as inferior and it's a woman's 'duty'. Sex is one of the most natural things but using it to abuse is down to the individual. Just because the western world is more open in regards to sex doesn't mean we all go out and sexually abuse each other. Education is key.
