Just firmed an unconditional offer for English with Creative Writing, I actually can't wait!

Has anyone else here done the same for this course?

Stuck between firming Manchester or Birmingham UNI for Business Management…
I prefer the university itself at Birmingham, as it has its own campus so generally felt a better vibe. Where as Manchester is just dotted around the city. Birmingham offer a placement year, but Manchester did say on the applicant day they are 99% sure they are introducing it in 2014 so i guess thats kind of irrelevant..
The course at Manchester allows you to specialise in any area you want too such as accounting/marketing, where as you can't at Birmingham.
Birmingham is higher up on UK league tables… Manchester is higher up on World league tables
Birmingham is AB Distinction, Manchester is AAB…

Do Birmingham allow you to have Student Selected Modules? Because that's the way you'll specialise. League tables vary a lot, I don't know which ones you're looking at, but subject-specific ones are the best. If you really think there's no real difference between them then go for the one you like the most - you'll be living there for at least 3 years! Hope that helps

Nice to see you firmed Birmingham! Not doing creative writing but firmed an unconditional for straight English lit so I'll probably see you there

Woooo! That's really cool  It all feels so close now - are you going to the accommodation day on the 26th?

Yep, I couldn't justify paying over £1000 more for an en-suite!

I know, it's all so exciting! Yeah, I should be, are you?

Just want the exams to be over now :frown: Yeah, even though I think I'm basically gonna go for the cheapest non-catered rooms I can find I thought it'd probably be wise to check out what they have on offer in a bit more detail.

Plus it'll be nice to look around the Uni that I'll be going to in a few months!

Haha exactly, my friends in Maple bank this year and it's fine, you don't really need anything else! It's a lot more money to spend on nights out :L yeah, do you have an un-conditional?

Ooh I could maybe see you there then?:O did you go for an applicant day?

Yes hopefully! No I didn't, I'd been to two open days already and competed in athletics there a couple of times so I knew the uni pretty well already!

The pressure is off though so exams won't be as bad as they could be  Have you applied to accommodation already? I'm doing the same although I can't cook so it's going to be fun going self-catered :') I went to an AVD and everything was lovely - only 7months to go!

Yeah I have - apparently its best to apply as early as possible because they allocate accommodation according to your application date! I don't really know how it works but I figured I would apply as early as possible. Yeah haha, I might try a bit of cooking at home before I go, just so I don't starve completely for the first few weeks at Uni.

I have a feeling the 7 months are going to go really fast

No need to be worried about not knowing anyone, that's the whole point of uni. You'll be fine
