Just can't see why you have a problem with football shirts

Separate question - I'm going to see a friendly - England V Peru and I happen to have a Peru football shirt (I'm English & GF is Peruvian). Do you think I'll get any issues?

My feeling is I won't cos it's a friendly, most English people probably don't even know where Peru is and it's more of a joke thing...

lol there is so much stupid in someone wanting to do someone harm because they support a different football team. It's a sport played by people who don't know you exist, and you want to beat someone up for supporting another bunch of people who don't know they exist. It's just so depressing.

Players do appreciate the fans and their support, for some people it's more than just a sport. A lot of the time the harm is to people who sees the violence/banter as part of football, part of life. It isn't usually randomers who get attacked just cos they're wearing the shirt...like I said earlier the lads recognise those who are their counterparts in the fan base

I didn't say it was civilised but I said it was part of the culture, plus again, a generalisation to 'detached millionaires' many Blues players are Blues fans and actually care about the club

It was just the other day i wore my home teams shirt in leeds city centre as i was walking there i got a lot of evil looks and ppl swearing at me. On the train to leeds i heard one guy say hes going to kick the **** out of me when i get off wtf. I didnt even say anything leeds were not even playing at home. Does this happen to anyone else if they wear a rival shirt anywhere ?

Most people who wear football shirts in public probably can't afford other clothes, in which case they shouldn't have bought the football shirt in the first place.

To be fair when we played them the Birmingham fans sang 'Saville will tear you apart...again' So I can't really claim moral high ground on that one.

They chanted to billy sharp 'where's your son' that was unforgivable

The price of a Leeds shirt is near £50. Not very cheap. And I buy one year after year. Just the other week I bought a £45 1972 FA Cup Final Leeds jacket.

And other fans have chanted about Galatasary to us. Fans chant about the Munich air disaster. It's sick, but a lot of clubs have fans like this.

There seems to be a lot of prejudice flying about this thread. I often get a lot of comments about my Leeds shirt when I stray out of Leeds. I was actually refused service at a chippy in Hull once. But to be honest, with the bad reputation Leeds fans have, I don't think it's wise to wear a rival shirt in the city centre, I know you want to show pride for your club. I wouldn't dare wear any Leeds gear anywhere near Millwall, or even London at all. It's the same way that all away fans are escorted directly from the coach to their seats at Elland Road & back again after the match, and how Leeds aren't allowed a lot of away tickets. We are Dirty Leeds.
