To be fair when we played them the Birmingham fans sang 'Saville will tear you apart...again' So I can't really claim moral high ground on that one.

Just can't see why you have a problem with football shirts

I haven't seen a single person wearing a football shirt today, so I'm obviously not the only one who thinks it's an odd alternative to a tshirt.

Yeah, that's northerners for you.

Separate question - I'm going to see a friendly - England V Peru and I happen to have a Peru football shirt (I'm English & GF is Peruvian). Do you think I'll get any issues?

My feeling is I won't cos it's a friendly, most English people probably don't even know where Peru is and it's more of a joke thing...

i doubt people will know what a peru shirt looks like, there not a well known team

That was fun, the pitch invasion one? Whenever I feel down I always watch sorensons own goal  haha course it is....

Nah it was the 1 all draw about month later, but I was at the pitch invasion one also. Well I watch Ridgewell's own goal to make me smile :p:

Grim up North innit, that kind of thing would happen in London only on a matchday in some rough pub near the ground.

That gif is now in my bookmarks.

lol there is so much stupid in someone wanting to do someone harm because they support a different football team. It's a sport played by people who don't know you exist, and you want to beat someone up for supporting another bunch of people who don't know they exist. It's just so depressing.

I know this probably doesn't even need saying but just, urgh, seriously.

You really cannot generalise like that! Also dunno about you but the weather has been a bit ****ty today not football shirt weather anyway. Just had a tidy up before my mate comes round and I have to say about 75% of my wardrobe is football shirts or football related clothing (casual stuff/bcfc tshirts/hoodies) and I have never once come across someone who thought that was weird.

Ah yeah, I remember, still think the pitch invasion one is one of my favourites. This sounds really bad but never really rated ridgy just something about him...

Players do appreciate the fans and their support, for some people it's more than just a sport. A lot of the time the harm is to people who sees the violence/banter as part of football, part of life. It isn't usually randomers who get attacked just cos they're wearing the shirt...like I said earlier the lads recognise those who are their counterparts in the fan base

It's a red diagonal stripe with "Peru" written in big letters...

Edit - I got mine from a market in Peru, Just searched for their kit - "Peru" isn't written on the proper shirts but it is on mine

Oh, well, sure then. If they're only beating the crap out of people who also like to beat the crap out of people over which bunch of completely detached millionaires kicked a ball in the others' goal more times that makes the whole thing perfectly reasonable and civilised.

I didn't say it was civilised but I said it was part of the culture, plus again, a generalisation to 'detached millionaires' many Blues players are Blues fans and actually care about the club

Brutal from Dion Dublin

West Ham away in my Tottenham shirt was amusing, couple of hundred Spurs fans going into a home pub, made me laugh. Police in London were more of the worry however, Leeds is a ****ing rough team (hence why "We all hate Leeds!") So there and Millwall that kind of thing should be expected

Sure, I'm not denying that. I'm sure many of the players care about their clubs, too. It remains that they have absolutely nothing to do with any particular fan who happens to beat the crap out of people for supporting other clubs. They don't know them.

I'm quite surprised that anyone is arguing with me on this tbh. I simply meant to make the point that violence over sport is senseless.

Hi

It was just the other day i wore my home teams shirt in leeds city centre as i was walking there i got a lot of evil looks and ppl swearing at me. On the train to leeds i heard one guy say hes going to kick the **** out of me when i get off  wtf. I didnt even say anything leeds were not even playing at home. Does this happen to anyone else if they wear a rival shirt anywhere ?

Sorry about that, I was a bit drunk at the time.

Most people who wear football shirts in public probably can't afford other clothes, in which case they shouldn't have bought the football shirt in the first place.

The price of a Leeds shirt is near £50. Not very cheap. And I buy one year after year. Just the other week I bought a £45 1972 FA Cup Final Leeds jacket.

Leeds are all round pretty scummy though

That's hurtful :cry2:

And other fans have chanted about Galatasary to us. Fans chant about the Munich air disaster. It's sick, but a lot of clubs have fans like this.

There seems to be a lot of prejudice flying about this thread. I often get a lot of comments about my Leeds shirt when I stray out of Leeds. I was actually refused service at a chippy in Hull once. But to be honest, with the bad reputation Leeds fans have, I don't think it's wise to wear a rival shirt in the city centre, I know you want to show pride for your club. I wouldn't dare wear any Leeds gear anywhere near Millwall, or even London at all. It's the same way that all away fans are escorted directly from the coach to their seats at Elland Road & back again after the match, and how Leeds aren't allowed a lot of away tickets. We are Dirty Leeds.
