Hey, could I possibly PM a primary applicant? I have an interview at the end of the month and I'm completely confused - probably a sign that I should forget about it but it'll be good interview experience I guess!

If you don't mind a random PM, please let me know!

I'm going in for primary education, with MFL specialism. Starting my PGCE at Exeter Uni next year. I had a massive mental crisis about the whole thing but it's now passed, and I realize it's the only the only career I'm really interested in. Feel free to PM me.

You can PM me if you still want to talk to more people... I'm studying Early Years at Cambridge in Sept (provided I get a 2:1) but also had a general primary interview at Reading. Good luck with your interview anyway
In a bit of a pickle at the moment. Manchester Met have offered me an interview for later on in the month, but have said that it may potentially only be for a reserve place. I don't know whether to head over to England (I'm from NI) and pay the flights etc for potentially never getting onto the course anyway. I'm still waiting to hear back from a local university on whether I've been accepted or not.

That's a difficult one. I think maybe you should go for it as it might increase your chances of getting onto a pgce. Because, places may open later if e.g. people don't accept their offer or don't pass their skills test. And then you'll be given a place like before other applicants.. if that makes sense. I guess it depends on whether you hear from your local university first too. I had an interview at mmu and heard back really quick but my offer is only conditional..

Hi Becky! Congratulations on the offers!

I think it'll come down to where you would prefer living and teaching, and which university you preferred.

I'd definitely suggest making a pros and cons list for each offer!

I haven't got much more advice other than that, sorry!

Thank you for the advice

I made lists and then just went with my instincts and chose Oxford Brookes. So as long as I pass the skills tests I will be started the primary PGCE there in September 2014.

Anyone else going to Brookes? I can't find a specific group anywhere...

Is anyone waiting to hear back from Primary at UEL or has already been offered a place?

As long as there are places on UCAS, I'm guessing you can apply regardless of the date.

Good luck!

mANY THANKS for your reply
Good afternoon

I would like to ask for if someone could help me about the PGCE primary application please?
The only reason why i do struggling because Im an international luckily form inside EEA (so hopefully got more possibilities about the application ).
Still waiting for NARIC reply etc..
Please if anyone could give any suggestion about the schools or whatever I would be really grateful!
I`m just really stressful about it

Many many thanks for your time!
and Good luck !
Anyone going to Newman University for the primary PGCE, there's a Facebook group  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1419243548335257/
My case is a bit long to explain ( my degree was obtained overseas and falls under agreed exceptions for pgce training bursaries). But basically I firmed my unconditional offer for a PGCE in MFL starting next September.
I would like to discuss bursary matters with them since it's unclear at this point whether or not I'll be entitled to it. My concern is that I am not sure it is an appropriate conversation to have with them at this point.
What would you do in my place: discuss it now or wait until I enroll?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be appropriate. If your offer is unconditional, then go ahead I say!

I agree with the above poster - contact them to ask. I don't see any issue with it. It's reasonable to want to know in advance so you can sort out money management etc.

Hey

Not sure if this is the appropriate thread but....

I was thinking of applying for both the PGCE and SCITT this November, but I only have a degree class of 2:2. I've passed the literacy and numeracy skills test and have about 10 weeks school experience. I am just worried that no teacher training provider will even offer me an interview based on my degree class as most teacher training providers require a 2:1 or more. Would I still stand a chance of getting into a secondary science course? or will the 2:2 hold me back?

Thank you in advance

Secondary science is currently a shortage subject that often fails to attract enough applicants. Your application is more likely to be considered because of this. If your specialism is Physics or Chemistry then even more so.

Are you sure most require a 2.1? the majority of places I looked when deciding where to apply wanted a 2.2 or above.
