Ernst and Young Partner interview success rate?

I just got the news that I passed the EY assessment center and have been invited for the final partner interview. Could anyone tell me about the general success rate for the partner interview and whether it is more of a formality or do many fail this stage? Thank you for your help

Guess you applied to internship? I knew their AC contains the partner interview.

My assessment center took place at the London office but the partner interview will take place at the office I applied for and hence two different dates. Any idea of the success rate?

The success rate for partner interviews is quite high - after all, the partners are busy and they wouldn't spend their time interviewing you if they didn't already like you!

You should be prepared for a more informal 'discussion' time interview, and be prepared to talk about your career motivations, why you chose EY, and why you chose the service line that you did.

I work for EY, so if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them.

By the way, the firm is no longer called Ernst & Young, we have changed our name to just "EY" from 1 July 2013

Thank you for your reply. I passed the interview and was offered the role the same day. I am a bit scared about the ACA exams and there is a general perception that they are the some of the hardest exams out there. I just wanted to ask as to how EY goes about the exams with respect juggling between college and work. I do have exemptions from all the knowledge modules so would I directly go to the next stage or would I have to give some mocks before I am exempted from them by EY. Lastly, how many hours on an average does a first year have to study apart from the time he/she spends at college? Thank you in advance for answering my questions

Hey,

Firstly congratulations for passing all the stages and getting an offer - well done!

I am currently mid-way through my exams (I am doing ICAS to be a CA rather than ICAEW to be an ACA but they are very similar). I would say that the exams are quite tough but definitely not as hard as people make out. Don't be put off by people 'scaremongering' - now that I have sat and passed some exams I have realised that other people like to try and put you off before them by saying how hard they are, when really they aren't so bad. You get loads of support from your tutors, your fellow students and the firm - everyone is helping you to pass. They are manageable, don't worry about it.

In my first year (and I imagine it will be the same for you unless things have changed), I got large blocks of time off work (3 months at a time), where I studied and then sat the exams. So there was absolutely no overlap between studying and working - I never had to work in the day and then study in the evenings.

If you have any other questions or are unsure of anything then I'm happy to answer any more questions (just remember to quote me so I see it please!) or you can drop me a PM if you want to discuss anything privately.

Hi I also recently passed EY's Assessment centre and have been invited to attend a partner interview. It would be great if you could answer a few questions for me. Is it similar to the first interview, what sort of questions were you asked? And how long did it last? Thanks

Speaking to someone who did a lot in the EY recruitment for grad scheme and internship, by the time you've got to the partner interview your chances are ~50%.

When you apply initially, they weed out most of the people on the initial application and the tests.
Then less than 20% of people get invited to the first interview.

Once you've reached the partner interview (especially if you had a separate AC and partner interview) then you've got a very high chance as you've jumped through all the hoops so far!

It's impossible for the partner to like you before the interview, they won't have met you.

However the pass rate is high as it's likely you've already displayed all the required competencies to reach this stage.

I presume you've mixed your words up a little here. Chances are definitely better than 50:50 if you make it through to the partner interview.

Does anyone who has had a partner interview remember what questions were asked e.g why ey? Or why audit? Or is it more strength based?

thanks again

I would have thought it would depend massively on how many places there are on the scheme you are applying for and how many other candidates there are for it.

If you've applied for assurance early in the cycle, then you'd have to perform rather badly in a partner interview to not get an offer.
Harp on about "building a better working world" an "Vision 2020" and the partner will probably cum in their pants and give you the job straight away.

Had my final interview 2 days ago and still haven't heard back yet? How long does it usually take to hear back
However long it takes the partner to provide feedback, normally within a week.
Hi there.

I have my final partner interview for Financial Services Advisory - Technology (London). I am trying to figure out exactly where this fits in and what I could choose to specialise in (I believe that is a commonly asked question).

As I understand it the Advisory sector is split in "performance improvement" and "risk." Technology consulting falls under performance improvement and is split into enterprise intelligence and IT advisory. Is the choice of specialisation between enterprise intelligence and IT advisory, or are there further specialisations within these?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Simon,

I have my AC for FS Technology next wednesday so I was wondering if you could enlighten me on the day's activities and the questions you got at the partner interview. Did you get an offer in the end? Thanks a lot !!

Hi Mariedb,

I have noticed your interest in finding out more about what the EY partner interview entails.

Please note that this will always take place with a Director or Partner from the service line and office you are applying to. It usually lasts around 40 minutes and is your opportunity to show why you have applied to the programme and why you would like to work for EY. We also like to hear about the accomplishment you are most proud of! It really is a chance for us to find out more about you. We created a video explaining the application process in more detail, so this should also give you an idea of what to expect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTzCSqqVeu8&index=23&list=PL4JSMaUVcSC0QC_FxlvdFUYYvrg6tbKND .

Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any more questions, or lots of our current trainees who have been through the process have Twitter accounts if you’d like to speak to someone who has been through it all before. Flo works in the Cambridge office @EYUK_Flo, Charlotte in the Reading office @CLWain_EY and Drew in London @DrewWilliams_EY.

Wish you the best,

Georgie
Hi EveryoneI had an interview today at the office with the associate partner. The first part had 4 parts which included :-Write about a product on you 1 page in 5 mins.-Edit an email (5mins)-Summarize the case (10 mins)-Altitude test (15 mins) And also included a behavioral Interview. I think the behavioral section and aptitude test went pretty well and really enjoyed conversation with the partner. However, I feel like I didn’t do so well in the first three sections cause of the pressure of time. Do you think I’ve lost my chances? Farid
