Do you think Gamification could improve the education system?

For those that don't know what gamification is, Extra Credits did a fantastic series on it.

Of course, have you not heard about "the gamification of EVERYTHING".
But being serious, I think it could greatly improve the education system.

Yeah, I kinda think the education system is fundamentally flawed given the fact that children and teenagers seem to dread it. If they enjoyed school and work more, I think they'd respond better to it. I'd kinda like to see a study done on gamification actually.
