If you had an offer from Imperial why were you so desperate for an offer from Kings? Only you've applied to Kings, Notts, Birmingham and Leicester for medicine. So you've been rejected from all of them - don't worry there's always biomed! Which is probably what you've firmed at Imperial.

Well done "DR" Sherlock you've cracked it! 3 stars for you.:bumps:

Gosh thank you!! I feel privelaged you've had to take time out to do so much digging on my profile! I'm quite sure people were just dying for your enlightment on my future study plans. :doctor:

For anyone else confused about my status and study plans I can only post on my girlfriends account that's all I can say.:teehee:

Hey! I really want en suite accommodation so I did:

Great Dover
Julian Markham
Ewen Henderson
Stamford Street (en suite)
Moonraker Point
Wolfson House

And I haven't finished ranking the rest yet!

I'm not too sure about Ewen Henderson because it's miles away from the campus, and Julian Markham because it's in Elephant and Castle, which my sister said is a bit rough. Have you been to Stamford Street?
How many do we have to chose? Are we supposed to rank ALL of them or just like our top three?

thanks!
I have been volunteering at two old peoples he's for just over a month and intend to until I reach Uni. I am only 15 and do 3 hours at each on a Saturday. I guess that's good but I have spoken to a Surgeon who I am friendly with at Great Ormand street hospital and I will be hopefully having work experience there for a week. I'll hopefully be doing 12 hour shifts so it'll be at least 60hours. In addition, I've spoken to a receptionist at my local hospital in Pembrokeshire, Wales and she said that she would ring me back after I asked her if I could do work experience at the hospital once I turn 16 (Next March). Hopefully that will be a weeks worth of 12 hours so that's a full 120 hours of NHS environment work experience
I am hoping for between 4-7 A* I believe it will be around 4-5. I am going to study Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths for AS and drop either Phys or Maths for A-level, (whichever one I'm not doing so good in.)
I was born with a rare urological condition which threatened my life and caused me to have to stay in hospital until I was around 1 and then on and off until I was 2 and I now go once every two years. So my reason for wanting to be a doctor is 'to conduct that operation on some other unfortunate person with the same condition who I can help them by, saving their life and by helping them live a happy and healthy life.'
When I reach year 12!(I'm only year 10 now) I have sent and e-mail to an organisation called 'gap medics' and I will be going to Tanzinia, South-East Africa. "Gap Medics is a specialist company that is dedicated to arranging hospital work experience placements abroad for students who are applying to medicine, nursing, dentistry or midwifery at University or those in their 1st year of med school. Our Head Office is in Newcastle upon Tyne in England and students join us from all over the world in particular the UK, USA, Canada, Australia"
When on my placement, I will be able to shadow doctors in various different departments, attend ward rounds and doctors meetings, and even scrub in and observe surgeries with the possibility of assisting!
Hopefully my application with all of this and a load of extra curricular activities that I'm on to, such as: Duke of Ed GOLD! Teaching First Aid, making it to the rank of Flight Sargent in air cadets which I am currently a corporal in so that's two ranks ahead of me. Looking after money in Air Cadets (trustworthy), I am bilingual speaking English and Welsh fluently, I will teach children to read from my primary school before I apply. Hopefully with all of this my application will be successful. Although, I am unsure as to how hard it is to get into King's, I understand it's a very good University but how hard is it to get in. I'm thinking of applying to Cardiff, St. George's, Liverpool and King's? Does anyone know what my chances are for King's I already know about St. George's and Liverpool just not so much Kings and Cardiff. Help please?

Wow you're starting early! Work experience and extra curricularly that sounds like you'll have an excellent PS when it comes to writing it, but as to whether you should apply to kings or not is unfortunately very difficult to tell at this early stage, as kings are very UKCAT heavy right now, but this could change hugely by your cycle. I think the best advice right now is to continue on with your activities, and focus on nailing those GCSE, AS and UKCAT exams when the time comes, but don't take it too seriously right now, and make sure medicine is definitely right for you . Good luck!

Thank you very much
Wow - offer from St Andrews and Kings - well done you! I suppose it depends on whether you would enjoy London life or prefer somewhere a little more tranquil. Both are excellent - a family friend studied Medicine at St Andrews and loved it!
The one thing to really consider is the cost savings (if this matters) Scotland Fees are £6k v £9k in the UK. So over a period of 5 years you would look to save £15k studying at St Andrews. a lot of money.......!
Good luck whatever you decide and keep us posted.

Well you sound like you'll have a brilliant personal statement! Kings and Cardiff have high GCSE requirements, I got in kings with 7A*4As but my GCSEs were too low for Cardiff. If you want to apply to Cardiff you'll need at least 8-9A*s to even get an interview! For Kings you'll need high GCSEs and UKCAT.

Just remember when you do your work experience etc, in your personal statement they don't care how many surgeries you've seen or how famous the surgeon is who you shadowed, they want to know that you've seen the highs and (most importantly) the lows of being a doctor, and that you know how hard it can be. Also that you've seen the sort of qualities necessary for a good doctor.

Good luck
