Hi, i am applying to lse this year and kind of facing some difficulty in choosing between pure economics and environmental policy with economics. I have a passion about environment but personally i am more inclined towards econs. It would be perfect if the course is equally balanced instead of "with economics." i know very few people get enrolled in this course every year,7 i guess for last year. So anybody here is currently studying this or are you having the same doubt?*
Really appreciate if you can give me some advice.

Can I ask what you got in your AS Levels at first, and what grades you got in your A2's? I'm in a similar situation and I ****ed up really badly at AS. Hoping to bounce back for A2

Hi everyone, I'm Nona, General Secretary of LSE Students' Union next year. Congratulations everyone who has received offers - I remember this period between taking A-level exams and actually going to LSE, and it's stressful to say the least! I can see there are a lot of queries on here.

One thing; do not listen to the rumours you here on this forum. I was pleasantly surprised when I came to LSE to find out that not only is the academic life great, but people ARE social. It's going to be an amazing three years. Best, Nona Buckley-Irvine, LSESU General Secretary 2014/15

Its just rare that people at my school apply there, most apply to Oxford, Cambridge, Durham etc but none seem to go to LSE. I am the only one in a 100 year group that even applied! Just think its not a very private school uni

I applied over a month ago and still haven't heard.. How long ago did you apply? Also did you receive an email? How did you know you had been accepted?

That's very strange. A lot of people from private schools tend to apply to Durham. Oxbridge is obviously understandable but Durham is viewed as quite average in my school. I know a lot of them got accepted but I also know many that chose universities such as Nottingham over Durham. As for LSE, may be because it only specialises in social science, which automatically reduces the amount of people applying there. What are you studying anyways?

At my school Durham is definitely considered very prestigious more so than LSE, which is odd. I am studying Government and History in September yourself?

That's strange... I think after Oxbridge the prestige of the universities becomes blurred. And I am doing Philosophy and Economics :smile:
Nah, I would say that lse is definitely more prestigious than durham. Not that it matters much. But its usually oxbridge, then lse/imperial/ucl, then Durham/Warwick. Speaking as someone not from the uk, thats how it's viewed anyway:smile: lse has an excellent reputation internationally, while durham is less well known.

Personally I believe state school students with reasonable grades are more likely to receive an offer than private school ones with high grades

AS: AAAB (economics,maths,further maths, english)
prediction: A*A*AA
Offer for: AAA (including maths and excluding further maths)
