Societies

While procrastinating I managed to find myself looking at some of the societies Sheffield offers and a couple caught my eye specifically the skate,chess and capoeira society. I manage to get my offer I plan on joining them (if I ever stop procrastinating!!). What societies interest you?

It's great that you're already thinking about joining societies - they're a fantastic part of university life and a great way to meet like-minded people and make friends.

I just wanted to let you know that we run an Activities Fair during Intro Week where you can check out all our different societies, meet students involved and find out how you can get involved too. Many societies also run "Give it a Go" sessions during Intro Week to allow new students to try out their activity and see if they like it before joining. This is a great way to try out some of the more unusual societies and maybe even discover a new hobby.

If you haven't seen it already, here's our video that showcases just some of our 300 societies and student run groups. As you can see, being part of a society is loads of fun! Plus, you can get credit for you involvement through the Higher education Achievement Report (HEAR) scheme.

I'll definitely be joining the cycling society, not too sure on any others, yet.

I think i'll check out a few societies. I'll most definitely be joining ACS.

I think I'll check out Events Society, Entrepreneurs Society, Christian Union, Debating Society, Salsa, Belly Dance and maybe Forge TV. I doubt I'll continue going to all of them but I'll just see how they are and pick one or two where I'd keep going.

I don't how to skate but I'd actually like to learn cause it seems pretty fun but I think I'd be too scared to fall flat on my face to actually try it :colondollar:
