I am asking a possible question for Reicher and Haslam.

In the research of Reicher and Haslam 3 interventions were used as the independent variable.

Describe 2 of these interventions.

There was the permeability of the roles - all participants were told that the guarded were selected on the basis of their reliability, trustworthiness and initiative measured by the preselection tests. However the tests weren't perfect and these qualities night have been missed in the prisoners. The guards would look out for prisoners who showed guard-like qualities and promotion was possible on day 3 so everyone believed movement between groups was possible.
Another IV was the legitimacy of the roles - on day 6 , everyone was told that there was really no difference between prisoners and guards hut it was impractical to change the group back SK the groups would stay the same. This means that the allocation if roles previously based on certain qualities was not perceived to be ran dome and not legitimate.

Good answers and another question. In the study of Thigpen and Cleckley after few sessions Eve Black appeared.

Explain using the projective jests how each of the 2 personalities were different.

One projective test that was used was the IQ intelligence test. Eve White scored 110 whereas Eve Black scored 107.
Another projective test that was used was the Rorschach Ink blot test. Eve White was shown to be repressive whereas Eve Black was shown to be regressive.

Caught you out here the projective test was just the ink blot test. The IQ was the psychometric tests.

And yes the answer would be the Rorschach ink blot test showed that Eve White was repressing her emotions particularly that of being a mother and the her traumatic experiences as a child. Whereas Eve Black wanted to regress back to an earlier stage of her life probably before she was married.

Describe the gambling task each participant was then set?

Difficult question Is this 2 marks or 4 well I don't think this could be 4 so here goes.

The participants were given £3 this would allow them to have 30 free goes on the fruit machine. They were told they could keep any winnings and were told to try and stay on for at least 60 gambles afterwards they could choose to go or they could keep the money and leave.

I just want to point out that the Tourette's group would not be referred to as the control group but the normal group.

But anyway. One of the control groups was the Tourettes group. This consisted of 10 participants who were of normal intelligence. There were 8 males and 2 females who were aged matched with the autistic group. The other control group was the Normal group which consisted of 25 males and 25 females who were assumed to have normal intelligence and were also matched with the autistic group

What would be the other projective test?

One ethical issue was psychological harm. This was created because it was believed that the researchers became too involved with the treatment of Eve White. Consequently it is believed that they were a cause of Jane's appearance and it seemed her condition worsened as she saw even more frequent blackouts. Another problem is privacy, Eve White was put under hypnosis which reveals information form the unconscious the information she has kept repressed and hidden because they were so traumatic and personal that she may not have wanted them being revealed.
