Edexcel GCSE: English Literature (OAM/AIC)

How did your exam go? What questions did you choose?

I chose the Sheila question and the Curley's Wife and Curley question.

In my inspector calls essay, I talked about socialism, capitalism, the young theory, the pink light representing the womb when the inspector enters, the inspectors change from being a police inspector to a God-like being, how the inspector represents JB Priestly, how JB Priestly grew up in middle class family and his grandparents were working class, HG Wells and Bernard Shaw and, 'My Fair Lady'. I also talked about Mr Birling and how he changes from predominantly capitalist, to feeling guilty because he'd give thousands and thousands.

In my OAM essay, I wrote about women's rights, Aunt Clara and how she is blamed for everything throughtout the novel due to her making Lennie obsessed with soft things, the Marxism theory, the whores and Madam Suzy, how she is only given a name because she knows what the men want, how Curley's wife is trapped in a loveless marriage and her name, 'Curley's wife'. I talked about how Curley is always causing fights with bigger men than himself. I also talked about the american dream, the dust bowl and the great depression. I also talked about Miss Luce's letter that Steinbeck wrote to the actor of Curley's wife in, 'Of Mice and Men'.

Do you think I'll get a good grade if I've structured it nicely with all of this content?

For edexcel you have to wait until midnight to talk about the exams.

However, I did the exam today and those were not the Edexcel questions for of mice and men. Don't know about inspector calls as I did a different book.

So you probably did it on a different exam board.

Unless it was question 14. As I did 13 for of mice and men.

Either that or I used a different exam board.

Just read a few another post for Edexcel GCSE and they're talking about the same questions as I did? Unless they made 2 with different questions?

i did Edexcel and our omam questions were on outsiders and Candy? Also pretty sure that aic isn't an option!

The overall paper is out of 60 and each section is out of 30

I did the edexcel paper and the culture question (the of mice and men) is out of 46

Those questions were shocking though, I did Candy but I had to make it all up
Yeah that question on candy and outsiders was awful!! Although I managed to make a load of stuff up and just kept linking it back to the context so hopefully I'll manage to scrape a B in that exam. I used the bit when Boxer is taken to the knackers too!! What collection are you doing for poetry?

i'm doing clashes and collisions. You? And just to confirm, we only had to answer ONE question for the OMAM right? Either the one on candy or the outsiders one?

Yeah one one OMAM question, I did mine on Candy and same I'm doing clashes and collisions!

I wrote 7 paragraphs so used 7 or 8 quotes and then unpicked them wbu?
