**** paper, read the last question wrong **** MY LIFE
Reply 2
i didnt read the last question where it said "red is replaced and an additional one added" I did the whole question but didn't take into account that red was added and replaced.....

will I get zero for part i) ii) ans iii) in that case? I drew a tree diagram (correct) i think, for both colours not being replaced and got 1/5 as the probablilty that a white is picked
Do you want me to post the paper up? I have it here

Slightly annoyed about the last one as well, didn't get the last part as I ran out of time :frown: I think part ii) was too long, a lot to work out

1) (i) a=14
(ii) standard deviation= 5.099

2) (i) 0.434
(ii) 0.812
(iii) 0.0355

3) (i) lamda=3
(ii) 0.577

4)(i) k=3
(ii) Var(X)= 0.0375
(iii) 0.512

5) (i) 6/7
(ii) a b and c all No

6)(i) distribution table
(ii) 5
(iii) 2.5

7) mean=48.1 s.d=14.2

8)(i) 0.3
(ii) 0.929
(iii) 5/19
OK here is all of my answers, I need to redo Q8, but I'll add it shortly

1)i) a=14
ii) sqrt26 = 5.10 (3sf)

2)i)a) 0.434
i)b) 0.812
ii) 0.0356

3)i) Guessed - E(X) = variance
Hence E(X) = (standard deviation)^2
ii) 0.577

4)i) k=3
ii) 0.0371
iii) 0.512

5)i) P(AUB) = 6/7
ii)a) A and B not mutually exclusive as P(AnB) is not equal to 0
ii)b) A and B are exhaustive and P(A) + P(B) = 1 (friends answer)
Or, A and B are not exhaustive as P(PUB) is not equal to 1 (my answer)
Unsure which is correct
ii)c) A and B not independent as P(AnB) is not equal to P(A) x P(B)

6)i) x | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
P(X=x) | 1/16 | 1/8 | 3/16 | 1/4 | 3/16 | 1/8 | 1/16
Done respectively
ii) E(X)=5
Table is symmetrical, and the centre value of x is 5
iii) Var(X) = 2.5

7) Mean = 48.1
Standard deviation = 14.1

8)i) 3/10 = 0.3
ii) 13/14 = 0.929
iii) 5/19 = 0.263

For 5)ii) I put all no, but friends said that Exhaustive is yes as P(A) + P(B) = 1
Is this correct?

I have no idea. Guessed them all very quickly cos they were only worth a mark each

Oh that's OK, you don't know what exhaustive means do you? I thought it was P(AUB) = 1

Easier than C3 but still hard. Hoping to have got mid Bs in those two and now a very high A in S1 which should hopefully even out at a high B/ low A
mark scheme anyone?

I think they both went relatively well, I went in hoping to attain my B overall, I feel like they went well enough to average 90% between them, so really hoping for an A* ooh such a wait till August though

can someone please put up a mark scheme
