*The Official Edexcel D1 6689 Revision Thread* ~ 12th June 2014 ~

Hi all,

I noticed there wasn't a thread made yet for this upcoming exam in june 2014, so I thought I would make one.

I thought it would be nice if there was a thread for those doing this exam and want to revise with the help of others, prepare for the paper and be able to ask any general questions about the exam.

Exam is only 3 weeks away, how is everyone feeling about it?

I've neglected revising for D1 so far but there are a few things that i think i could lose marks on in the exam, route inspection, djikstra's and linear programming. I might try to find some difficult questions and post them up

What kinda resources do you guys use? I understand that some people self study D1, so are there any video sources to learn from? I know that there are a couple of tutorials on youtube which are helpful.
D1 is mostly past paper practice...

The 'route inspection' question mostly the last parts where it ask to find the route and the markscheme as something like ABCDEGHGABACEGA
i always seem to get them wrong can some one explain how you are even meant to attempt them?
The only thing I'm a bit stuck on is scheduling diagrams, but I think I'm getting there. I just hope I don't make silly arithmetic errors on the day because the grade boundaries are so high :frown:

Let's hope it's a standard paper!

What bits are you guys stuck on?

Scheduling diagrams came up in June 2013 (R) ...does that make it less likely to come up this year? Scheduling diagrams are rare...but I find them so confusing!

That question was an unusually challenging one - it was good fun!

true! scheduling with the gantt charts are alright but when we have to schedule them with fixed number of workers thats when it gets all complicated.
the video below helped me understand scheduling alot you might want to look at

how you guys feeling for this exam?
Not feeling confident at the moment, but I have done 3 exams this week so not done much prep.

Dunno if theses notes are good but here

Given the limited resources for D1 say compared with core maths I may make some notes, If I do I will post them on here

Thanks in advance.

As a vertex new to the tree is picked at each stage, cycles cannot occur.
Anyone found a checklist they can send to me?

Also a quick ques: for the matchings when u have an improved/complete matching can u draw it on the diagram without listing it or do u have to do both?

Yeah, first time I'd seen that.
Fortunately I felt that I got 2 of the 3, but they were borderline vague statements :s-smilie:
