AQA Unit 3B - Ideologies (A2)

I do. Revising for it now.

Any idea what questions you guys are going to answer? I think I'm going to go for Socialism and Conservatism.

I am starting revising for it Friday. I have English Literature on Friday. I hate 3B - there's no textbook

There are many good text books on it, there are even revision books which are very helpful. I've used Andrew Heywood's book which most people find it quite interesting. Well, if you haven't used any book before then its quite late isn't it, the exams are in 5 days.

I have the Introduction to Political Ideologies book by Andrew Heywood, which we all got given in class. It's pretty brief though and I've just been looking at the mark schemes and the book doesn't cover as much as I need to know. So I'll have get on with a lot of additional research and possibly get another book from College.

There's no specific AQA ones but there are non exam board A2 ones. It's a bit annoying how they don't have one as I have the AQA unit guide to unit 4A and it's quite helpful. I don't see the harm in getting an Edexcel one though as the exams can't be that different.

Btw, are we supposed to focus just on British parties? Can we focus on the US too? I know the Socialism questions are mainly on Labour.

What are you hoping to get by the way? I badly need an A so I'm smashing the revision

I need to get 71 UMS on both 3B and 4A to get a B overall to meet my uni offer of ABB I revised some over half term but haven't touched it since last Friday and won't until English is out of the way on Friday morning... I am really worried about 3B and will likely have to make marks up in 4A. Saying that I did better on my mock for the former despite convincing myself I had failed it

Cool, not too bad then Good luck for your English exam, mine went less well than I hoped it would.

I got a B, an A in Unit 1 and a C in Unit 2. I re-sat Unit 2 on Monday though to bring the grade up and I think I've done better, at least I actually remembered dates of legislation which always escape me in the exam room.

I got an A on Unit 1 and a D (1 mark from a C) on Unit 2 (****ed up the 24 marker on multi-level governance )). I didn't resit because it clashed with history and I didn't want an unnecessary exam to revise for

What texts did you study for English?

Aw you should of asked for a re-mark we didn't cover multi-level governance at all, I just did Constitution and Parliament. Unit 2 was definitely harder in comparison to Unit 1.

Henrik Ibsen's 'A Doll's House' and Arthur Miller's 'All My Sons', which are quite good plays and are strangely comparable. I do English Literature and Language together though rather than straight Lit.
What texts do you study?

I did get a remark but it stayed the same We only spent 1 lesson on it but I chose the topic in the U2 mock and got a good grade on it but the question in the mock was about councils when the exam was on the EU which I didn't know about.

Nice, I love Arthur Miller. We are studying King Lear, Paradise Lost Book IX and Tis Pity She's a Whore

Ah and ooh, just googled them they sound interesting and yeah Arthur Miller's a really good playwright, I like his critique's of American society.

Yeah they're great plays but studying them eliminates my enthusiasm for them... The Crucible is a great commentary on the unsettling McCarthy witch trials; have you read it?
