Anyone else voting Greens in the General Election?

Any others think they're the right choice in a general election? I don't want to vote for one of the main three and I accept it'll probably be a waste of a vote but as a socialist they are the only real credible option.

Also, I fear UKIP will in national politics become a reactionary party trying to get Labour voters up north and Cons down south thus amending policies to suit. Evidence of this is already shown in their changing of stance on tax. I don't see reactionary politics as the answer.

Anyone else want an independent socialist UK working with other countries only in terms of economic benefit?

It would be just one of the 70% of votes which have absolutely no impact on the outcome of the election. The FPTP 'voting' system is designed to enable Labour and Conservatives to continue their stagnating stranglehold on UK politics, and essentially UK democracy. Can you imagine that Con/Lab will still be in power after another 100 years, or 200, or 300? Well this is what would happen if FPTP was allowed to continue, and if a referendum or indeed revolt against it didn't take place.

I voted for them in the European elections but wouldn't vote for them in a general election. I disagree too strongly on too many issues, and I voted for them in the European elections basically as an environmental protest vote.

They get too involved in animal rights. I like to go shooting, which the green party wants to ban completely. Not just the sporting and food side of shooting, but pest control as well. Farmers and foresters need to control animals like rabbits, and many conservation projects depend on pest control. Their animal rights policies would make a lot of conservation projects impossible, and harm their claim to be an environment party.

They had good potential as an environment party. Then they got heavily involved in animal rights to the point of putting it above conservation.

They also support moves to give prisoners the right to vote, an idea which I find abhorrent.

A referendum took place on the Alternative Vote system. AV was rejected in that referendum. But AV is only one of many possible voting systems.

Lol I can't even believe some people think this is a tough decision, even if you're a die hard Green supporter the obvious choice in the next election would be to vote Labour to avoid a UKIP/Conservative coalition.

if I don't vote UKIP, I'll vote for the conservatives tactically, seeing as my constituency is a swing seat between the libs and the cons

It's not exactly designed for that... FPTP was the main voting system long before Con/Lab, it just seemed simplest and therefore best back in the day. As ever I hope for a referendum on voting systems (dying for MMP), but which system would be used in this referendum? AV is probably simplest, but you'd need a FPTP referendum on this. So complicated...

They did manage it in New Zealand, however.

For AV. Hardly a great voting system, and no one really knew why it was better. At the time it just seemed as though it would benefit the Lib Dems and no one else which I suppose is why they lost the vote. That and Con/Lab fighting furiously against it.

I'm in the same boat. Although, I'd be pretty sure to vote for Labour if I felt their leader was competent and convincing enough.

Would depend on the leader for me. There are a few within Labour of whom I regard as capable. Those in with a shout like Ed's brother would not convince me at all. I think the whole direction of the party itself needs to change.

I didn't come in here attacking anyone else for their stance so please show others common courtesy and allow them to vote as they choose - socialist logic is defined as what exactly? socialists come in many forms with often different viewpoints.

Why ? Under Ed Miliband we have on the most left wing Opposition since 80s
If Miliband looses he will be replaced by a blairite then what choice will you have at the election
