Ronaldo is hugely overrated

TL: DR on this subject

Rational observer: ''Ronaldo scores a goal a game for RM''
Messi fanboy: Yeah but he plays with great team-mates. As if Messi hasnt played with the best club side ever for most of his Barca career

R.O: ''He also tore up the PL for Utd''
M.FB: Guffaws and makes some comment about ''rainy night in Stoke'', as if it isnt a huge point in Ronaldo's favour.

R.O: Ronaldo is cabable of a huge variety of goals and can play many systems
M.FB: ''but Messi iz a better dribbler and that's the most important thing innit''

R.O: ''Ronaldo was better this year and deserved the Ballon D'Or''
M.FB: ''ONLY BECAUSE MESSI WAS INJURED'' As if the award is Messi's inherently every year

People hate on Ronaldo because they dislike him, simple as that. People also like to see Messi as some kind of humble saint, as opposed to the multi-millionaire egotisitical guy, surrounded by marketing specialists that he is. Baffling.

You serious? Your first point is completely the other way around regarding each players fanboys. Ronaldo fan boys always claimed messi was useless without xavi and iniesta, as if di maria and the highest assist maker ozil were complete garbage.

Second point, I haven't seen anyone say that. The usual and more valid argument against that is that most if the best players in history never played in the premier league.

Messi, is better than a lot more than just dribbling... They both have their own strengths

Ronaldo is taller, stronger, faster and better with his weak foot, better at heading, then messi

Individually Ronaldo is far superior than messi and is easily the best modern time player

But Messi is probs better for the team tbh

If he's stronger then why does he fall over so much compared to messi?

I honestly think this is something we as English keep telling ourselves to try and make us feel better. The fact is right now the top teams in La Liga are superior to those in the PL so obviously the winning margin will be greater over the rest of the league.. Teams like Sevilla and Villarreal would give teams like Everton a serious run for their money. It's easy to look at their lower teams and take them as being **** and conclude the EPL is better but I highly doubt the Spanish hold teams like Hull and West Ham in particularly high regards either.

Yes, those teams are superior but the worse teams also help that. The domestic rigour is greater in the EPL, and Sevilla and Villareal are actually a pair of sides which do play to make their opposition run for their money.

I still think that if there were a few EPL teams slotted in the La Liga, the margin of victory would be less. Can't see how people would argue that the La Liga is more competitive, honestly can't see it at all.

I do agree though that yes, the Spanish won't hold Hull City and West Ham in high regards xD

You're talking absolute *******s

The top teams in la liga are better than the top prem teams that's why there's a bigger margin. The tier bellow are the teams that are filling up the latter stages of the Europa league not the prem sides. La liga is clearly a better league in terms of quality

Cristiano Ronaldo's overrated? Okay.

I think his season speaks for itself.

How is he overrated? He's a fantastic player who, along with Messi, should be considered as one of the best of all time. Messi is a level above in my opinion, but both of them are far ahead of the next "tier" of players.
Why can't people just enjoy the fact that we have two of the best footballers of all time in the game right now?

Are you actually serious right now? Do you even watch football?

They're simply not.

Name me four teams from La Liga that could win their league. I'm sure it isn't as difficult for the EPL. The domestic rigour isn't the same as the EPL. Name me a player that's scored over 200 goals in the EPL. That's right. There aren't any. Let's look at La Liga, ooh, there's 7 f****** players that have scored over 200. Most of these 7 players aren't even much, much better than the top 7 goal scorers in the EPL.

La Liga is easier to score in, how anyone can deny that is beyond me. Of course, internationally, the top sides of the La Liga are better than the EPL.

Basically, you are talking s*** and I don't even think you watch football. At all.

I'm going to stop now because things are getting a little heated purely from dissimilar views of how the respective leagues pan out.

EDIT: Not 7, got that wrong, but I'm sure there's more than 3.

La liga clearly has more quality only a moron would suggest otherwise.

Their top teams consistently batter ours. Their teams consistently do the best in the Europa league.

Can't fathom how someone can think the quality is higher in the Prem. Barca battering utd and arsenal are some of the most one sided games I've ever seen and they're meant to be our top teams. City barca was embarrassing as well barca had two goals wrongly disallowed and no penalty and still won 3-1 on aggregate

You're missing the point.

If you've been watching La Liga, you would notice that there is a huge difference between the top team compared to the 4th team (in terms of domestic performance).

Let's look at this year: the top team, Atletico Madrid, secured 90 points, where as fourth place Athletic Bilbao secured 70 points. That's a difference of 20 points.

The top team of the EPL, Manchester City, secured 86 points, where as fourth place Arsenal got 76 points. That's a difference of 10 points.

Even the year before that: in the 2012-13 season top team Barcelona secured 100 points, where as fourth place Real Sociedad secured 66 points. That's a difference of 34 points.

The top team of the 2012-13 season in the EPL, Manchester United secured 89 points, where as fourth place Arsenal secured 73 points. That's a difference of 16 points.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are both absolutely brilliant, there is absolutely no way I can deny that at all. But La Liga does not have the same domestic rigour as the EPL, hence the person's feelings towards La Liga.

I disagree with you. The premier league is marginally better overall than la liga but the reason barcelona and Real Madrid dominate is because they significantly better than any premier league club (Chelsea are getting close).

What do you think about Rooney's performance vs Italy.

Or are you just going to talk about the cross that pretty much all the attacking players we had could have made?

Remember you chatting **** that I don't know anything about Rooney...

He was played out of position

Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal? Arsenal were first place at one point.

Also, if you actually took the time to read my post properly, you would find that I clearly said that internationally the top teams of La Liga are better. Barcelona and Real Madrid are two sides that are unarguably the best in the world.

Tell me, do you think the top players of the La Liga could produce the same performance in the EPL? I didn't think so either.

This is what makes football exciting. I apologise for being been rude but clearly we have differing views. We may never agree. Oh well. Football is football. The main thing we should is enjoy it

Because Rooney has never played on the wing before.

Because Sterling is a natural no.10?

Don't worm your way out of this.

Right Liverpool have never won it. Arsenal not in the last 10 years

Why wouldn't they reproduce that form? How many times have barca battered arsenal most notably messi. Remember the champions league final in 2011 vs our top team at the time? One of the most one sided champions league finals ull ever see. Ronaldo scored 42 goals in his best season here now he's playing with better players and is in the peak of his career so there's no reason as to why he wouldn't produce the same numbers here.

In fact fabregas came out himself last week saying it's harder to score in la liga

He has played on the wing before, he's just not very good there that's why he doesn't play there. Also just because one player feels comfortable out of position, doesn't mean everyone else can be expected to be. Rooney doesn't really have the legs to be playing out on the wing and he doesn't enjoy playing wide.

People talk about Wayne Rooney's exceptional work rate, but when he has a few bad games they say he's unfit and lazy.

Which one is it then. Are we just making excuses just because it's Wayne Rooney.

If he's uncomfortable playing out of position, why did he miss that chance in the second half, he wasn't on the wing when he had that chance and playing on the wing doesn't affect your ability to finish good chances.

No arsenal were no where near by the end of it. Only 3 teams can win the pl I think until united come back.

Would the top players produce the same in the premier league? Probably... If silva, toure, Aguero, negredo, mata and even michu who were not top players in Spain could handle the premier league easily enough then I'm sure messi, iniesta, di maria could handle it easily enough too
Im a liverpool fan and he is ridiculously goodhe just hasnt perfromed at the world cup he needs go be an all time great

You're being incredibly harsh and you don't realise it. That chance wasn't exactly a sitter, bashing a player for missing one chance is just silly. That was the only chance he was really given all game, if he had many and missed them all then I would agree with you that its unacceptable.

I never mentioned anything about Rooney's work-rate so you should go and speak with those people not me.
No matter how good he really is, he still is a crying little ****.

And that is why you either are a fanboy/girl or you rightly hate his stupid ass face.
