More like 10 - 15 actually if you bother following the classic car market trends.
The last clingers on from the 70's have started to move too now. You can't buy a marina or an allegro worth having for less than a grand anymore.
This year early mk3 escorts and mk1 fiestas are really making a move. Fiestas in particular have gone up around 300%
80's tin and some early 90's stuff is now doing what 70's tin was doing 10 years ago and this is the area to invest in if you want to see some long term returns.

The car was still being sold in 2008 and there's still plenty of them on the roads. It doesn't look particularly dated either. I really can't see them going up in value (much) in that time span. They're not particularly unreliable either so you wont see them being scraped left right and center. The demand for them would have to rise significantly if the supply doesn't drop much. Even the mk2 golf. One of the most sought after "old" cars at the moment is only like £1000-£2000.

With the way the dissolve numbers are only going down...
There time will come and when it does they'll go mental for original examples with low miles.
Look at Discovery 1's. They have plateaued and are starting to creep up slowly.
By the same token, look at reliant scimitars - just about the only classic car where prices are going down at the moment.
There's money in small old fords.

For a start theres the rust. I know most older cars rust a bit at some point but KA's are well known for rusting like mad. And they dont just rust- they rot like hell. Like the rusting round the petrol filler cap- which rots from the inside out so you cant do anything about it.
Then theres the tax. They arent as cheap to tax as you might think. I know one my grandma had was about £190 ish a year to tax. There are plenty of cars that are cheaper to tax.
And then theres the insurance- both me, my sister and others we know have found that KA's can be more expensive to insure than other similar cars.
They can be quite unreliable as well.
When i brought my last car- my dad got talking to the bloke who owns/runs the garage and he said that he wont have KA's at his garage and he wont touch them with a barge pole. And this is coming from a garage owner who has run the garage for 25 years.

Don't KA's tend to rust? That alone is why I wouldn't get one, better to spend a bit more on something that won't give you much hassle later on IMO
My mother has a 2000 ford ka and it is literally rusting and rotting to pieces. It has rusted underneath, it always fails it's MOT because of this and needs to be welded, and it has rusted all around the petrol cap and where the boot latch is. Horrible car
