Why do women need female only competitions in everything?

Scroll to see replies

I'm gonna solve the answer for you darlings

Equality doesn't result in justice.

Let's allow women to go into boxing fighting ffloyd mayweather and Amir Kahn. They end up in hospital for sure. That's equality.

Now let's get women of similar strength capability to fight each other, the fight is fair, and they are able to walk at the end if the fight (sometimes). That's justice. The same with football/rugby/tennis/golf.

My work here is done, toodalloooo muda ******s

The reason that in sports they tend to be separated is that there are legitimate differences between male and female physiology that would make it unfair for, say, and all men team to go against an all women team, the mean would probably win, assuming that they were of comparable skill for their gender.

An interesting case came up this week on the matter. The IeSA wants esports to be treated in the same manner as traditional sports, as such they require the involvement of women and a few years ago when they started doing this they decided to take the traditional approach of separate leagues. This year, the games played in each league are different, including Hearthstone ONLY being in the men's division. Due to this a Finnish tournament made the Hearthstone competition only open to men, so as to not run into difficulties with women knocking out men but then not being able to go on to play in the internationals. Obviously, this caused outcry.
Well, thus far there is negligible evidence to show that one gender has an innate advantage over the other for such things, so they couldn't justify it on that front. IeSA responded on Wednesday in a rather confusing manner though: for some reason, instead of just adding Hearthstone to the female division, or just making a single mixed division, or introducing a new mixed division, they decided to replace the men's division with a mixed division (which itself caused outcry, since it puts women with mixed and women only but men with only mixed).
Of course, in e-sport, just like real sport, the women's divisions are mostly just a sideshow.

You're completely ignoring my point. If a woman plays a dangerous sport such as cricket, she is highly likely to get injured.

Men bowl significantly faster than women...A woman cannot deal with that sort of pace

She already plays men's cricket and is fine. (Hit a Brett Lee bouncer for 6 I believe). What's in her way of playing for Sussex isn't ability, its international (woman) commitments.

Wow. The majority of males on TSR are pathetic. So far the one female who has posted is speaking the most sense. And the guy who's grating her for 'emotions' is also pathetic.

Women need female only sports because they cannot perform at the same level as males, as is obvious. Imagine if everything was mixed and therefore only a couple of women competed with many thousands of men. What do young girls have to look up to? My younger sister is extremely sporty and has the fighting ability to beat the **** out of most guys her age. She wants to become a professional footballer and has the potential to be, but if women did not have separate football leagues, etc, she would not be going anywhere in that direction.

The problem with the regular guys on TSR is that most of them are massive introverts who don't speak to many women and so cannot understand things from their viewpoints.

this. what annoyed me about this thread is the amount of males acting smug and superior as if they personally are the sports champions beating women! just because OTHER MEN are good at something doesnt give YOU bragging rights.

Hitting a bouncer for a 6 doesn't prove anything. Brett Lee bowls so fast the ball will go for a 6 if you get a bat to it.

Regularly facing that kind of speed is another matter altogether. She will not be able to match the physical capabilities of men in the long run

She's a wicketkeeper/batsman on the minor county circuit. If you have any idea of the kind of variance/players in minor county cricket you'd quickly realise that if you're capable of playing there regularly, you could easily transition to county cricket.

Her problem isn't ability, it's benevolent sexism from bowlers unwilling to be hostile/break her ribs/nose.

Any ''mind sport'' that is based on raw brain power, IQ and logic will have men win 90%+ of the time. Just like scrabble or bridge where most competitors are women but at the top it's pretty much all men.

As I said, albeit with slightly different words, there is no conclusive enough evidence, and even if there were people would still complain. But your statement narrows down the variables to just "are they good or not". Plenty of people in women's sport are as good, if not better, than counterparts in male sport, but there is minimal interest in women's sport so they are still irrelevant.

Have you ever seen a female struck with a cricket ball? There is a reason for this so called 'benevolent sexism'

Because women are so much more fragile than men and there is no way at all to deal with that problem(!)

Precisely my point. I would never bowl a vicious bouncer to a female but would have no problem bowling it to a male. And for that reason women should not play with men....except in the bedroom

Well that last comment just killed an already dead argument, you seemed to fail to notice the second part of the sarcastic comment. People started having to wear pads and helmets for safety, so why not extend it further to provide some protection for women, and then to prevent any advantage the lesser weight and lower temperature would give the men, make them wear it too.

The second part of your comment makes no sense
Women have fragile minds and bodies. Bless them.

You do realise that cricket padding does not offer complete protection? Even if you get struck on the head whilst wearing a helmet, it still hurts quite a bit. Have you ever played cricket?

Are you saying that women can't possibly handle a bit of pain? Do you need introducing to the concept of natural childbirth?

As you have said, natural childbirth is well.. Natural. Females will endure this pain for the birth and survival of their children, whereas I'd doubt they would endure 90mph cricket balls flying into their heads, ribs, thighs, wrists etc. It's incomparable, one results in life and the other results in bruised or even broken bones.
