Are all 18 year olds this vacuous, useless, and lacking in any degree of willpower and self-esteem, or did they select these lot especially?

They selected them especially. I'm actually embarrassed that the people they chose are pretty much representing Leicester, because not everyone is like that. I can assure you. Though I did have the displeasure of coming across a few "lads" like Aiden who didn't care about their degree, only about getting drunk and getting laid.

Chlamydia is legitimately so much banter! Ha. Ha. Ha. But I could see the clear embarrassment in his face, I still don't understand why he would be idiotic to broadcast him stupidity on national TV haha?

Probably because people will remember him and talk about him. He just wants attention.

Tbf they all seem incredibly annoying. Josie just reminds of the typical annoying middle-class girl who just talks about bs 24/7. Aiden was the worst of them all with all the lad ****e, Lauren I felt sorry for but the complaining does get repetitive.
What a bunch of pathetic, sheltered morons. They all need to take a man the **** up pill

Aiden is exactly the type of guy I can't stand. I was a fresher at Leicester last year when this was filmed, and I'm so glad I never had to come across him. "Just got an std, banter lol" how's about **** off and have a word with yourself.

Can't handle the banta.
I hate to sympathise with Aiden, but seeing as Chlamydia is so easily treated, its hardly a big fuss. Especially so for a male

Aiden - typical guy. whatever

Lauren - sheltered person who tried to help herself, but seemed annoying from those twitter posts and constant messages to the other dude she met before uni

Mads - sloot

Girl who went out with Aiden - moron

brb going church

brb getting laid
Didn't really know what to think when I watched it. I found them annoying most of the time and I felt like I couldn't really identify much with any of them? Anyone else find that?

I can be an introvert and extrovert but not to the extremes shown on the documentary. :-/

What the hall did Adrian do with this fish, bear and menopause tablets !?
Lauren was too clingy for my liking, feel sorry for Daniel.
Josie is too insecure, I think she's pretty.
happy ending for Josie and Lauren, not so much for Adrian :P
I felt the same way about Lauren tooo and I can totally empathise with how she is feeling as I have been in that boat so many times so i can totally understand. She has literally told my life story. but i am glad she's found a group/society she can belong to, she can use it as stepping stone and as a confidence booster.
I fear I will be the equivalent of Lauren in September aha 😂

Why would you want to do that?

Observe what she did wrong, and don't repeat her mistakes. Simple.

Just like Lauren, I'm not really the type to get drunk every night, it will be a very weird experience for the both of us! We'll have to hope we get the same outcome as her finally settling in

ara youll be grand

I wasnt great at that stuff myself

dont do the lauren and stay downstairs:P

make sure to be social its a good thing

I lived in a party house an it did me good in many ways

just be friendly..theyll get if youre not the same as them

If Aiden was my flatmate I would have ****ed off home as soon as he did that cringey handshake/wink thing. A degree maybe worth 9k a year but it's not worth that.

a lad in my house was really like Aiden...hes okay he organises stuff a born entertainer and open about himself..
love the comment tho priceless!:P

I didn't feel sorry for Lauren, she kept complaining and isolating herself from the flatmates. You obvioulsy aren't going to make that many friends if you insist on staying away from everybody.

That Aiden guy got on my nerves, he was so cringey and he just looked like he was overcompensating. I think he might have deep insecurities and tries to act like a 'lad' so people don't suss them out.

I liked Josie
josie is annoying...laurens no one to compare too but at least she has actual problems

fairly typical uni girl fresher tho

After having watched this, I'm feeling nervous about going to university. I don't want to drink or have one night stands, but I still want to make friends and socialise. And it seems drinking is a big part of social life at uni :frown: maybe I should avoid Leicester

I felt sorry for Lauren, freshers week must have been awful for her.

Aiden was just annoying as ****

it is...but you have to be social you dont have to drink...practice being social..drink water or coke instead...whatever but be involved...its hard but aslong as you stick with it..itl be grand..enjoy it if yeh can..no one knows youre not drunk in the club so dance/do what yeh like

Hi, I am a participant in the show, I won't say which one in case you hate me when you watch my story! Lol

The show is a 4 part series airing every Thursday at 10pm.
Each week concentrates on different students experiences at university throughout the first semester. The first episode was freshers week (or fortnight at leicester) and the last episode finishes with January exams.
The contributors were picked for the show before anyone had confirmed their choice of accommodation. The students chose either catered or self catered and the students were split into two flats. 6 in one and 5 in the other. (One student lived at home). As a tv show they picked students who could bring something to the show but were from different backgrounds, different interests and different social standings (the show is about social media and university after all). Everything on the show is real, however a few students may have acted up to the camera abit (towie, Geordie shore influences I'm afraid) or because of embarrassment may have shown bravado! but nothing was actively encouraged (or discouraged) by the production crew.
There are probably two students who were more introvert while the rest were more extrovert. Had the students gone into halls by random selection 'Lauren' may have had someone who was more introvert like herself to pal with instead of being with 4 extreme extroverts, and 'Josie' may have been with slightly calmer girls who could have calmed her down rather then egg her on. The same with the other students you'll meet later on.
Stick with the series, there are students in the show who are more 'mainstream' but they probably picked the three extreme characters to give the shock factor and get ratings. (Again although we are real students, it is an edited tv show!) each student was filmed from early sept until mid march but we each only have around 15 mins worth of air time, so please bare this in mind!

P.s enjoy and please be nice on twitter and Facebook!
awww whoever this is...very well put

God no I can assure you I won't be as socially awkward as Lauren! I'll have to practice at coming out of my shell as you have suggested  Everyone's in the same position I guess
