Feminists want us to move towards dictatorship

A comment by "Alisdair" underneath that article sums up my views on the matter. The article isn't entirely wrong but is badly wrong to state that free speech is not a right.

Further to what Alisdair said, if the state starts telling me that I don't have the right say what I like about feminists, then yes, that is a breach of my rights. What the author of the article is correct to point out is that if I were to go to a radical feminist's home, and express opposition to her views, she would have every right to kick me out and I couldn't use my right to freedom of speech as a justification for staying.

However, if the freedom of speech were an absolute right - as claimed, why the judicial interventions taken out against people leaking documents, expressing their views on certain subjects online etc.?

Because the legal protections for freedom of speech in this country aren't as wide-ranging as they should be. I, like all libertarians, will continue to assert my right to freedom of speech regardless of what the government says.
The problem I have with feminism is there is an increasing number who lie between feminists who want gender equality, and radical feminists, who claim that male right's activists are wrong, that continue to foucs on the "patriarchy" on their arguments and often ignore the "correlation does not imply causation" argument against them. Certain TSR users drop into the aforementioned category.

For a few years now feminists have been holding up their banners saying things like "I need feminism because science toys shouldn't be in the boys section" and "I need feminism because boardrooms and politics are full of men" etc.

Feminism is trumpeted as the solution to these problems, but you'll almost never hear a feminist stating exactly how feminism will go about solving these problems.

The reason they never say how is because the only way such views can be enforced is via a larger and more controlling state. Feminists are suspicious of the vast majority of humans who make judgements on ability rather than gender, and thus want state regulation to ensure they get their own way.

Rather than leading to increased freedom for women, what feminism really leads to is bigger government and more normalisation of state control, taking us on the path towards authoritarianism and dictatorship.

Let me see, similar argument to the whole 'any kind of socialism =communism' train of thought.

Nope, still has no credibility in this context either!!!

It's not the same. The reality is that in the societies that have feminism at the core of their governments, some scarily authoritarian laws are being proposed and the laws already in place also infringe on freedom and give more power to the state. If the law banning criticism of feminism is implemented in any Scandinavian country, I would consider that country to be a totalitarian dictatorship. The state has no business infringing on people's rights to that extent.

No, you're burying your head in the sand.

Picture this. You tell one of your friends that you don't always agree with the aims and principles of the feminist movement. A radical feminist hears this and calls the police. You are arrested for undermining the feminist movement and face a prison sentence.

That scenario could be the reality in any Scandinavian country very shortly. If you don't believe me, find the link I posted a couple of pages back.

Maybe because we've heard it all a million times.

What's happening in Scandinavia now is not only very worrying but also not very well publicised. You have not heard it a million times before, and the fact that you are ignoring it is symptomatic of the declining attitude towards liberty in this country and Western Europe in general.

Believe me yes we have. Every time any new law comes in that might in any way infringe 'free speech' in fact. And we don't seem to be under a dictatorship yet, despite a number of these laws having been passed.

How many times have laws been proposed that ban criticism of feminism? I agree that there are many laws in this country that infringe on liberty but we haven't seen nothing yet compared to what's happening in Scandinavia.

People said the same thing about laws against hate speech.

Laws against hate speech do not make us a dictatorship, but they move us towards it. The trend towards authoritarianism is irrefutable.
Was this thread made just to spark a flame war? :33

And they're right.

Free market capitalism is stupid and destroying the planet. Small amounts of regulation do not equal communism/a dictatorship, it is a sliding scale.
