lol the sheer ignorance on this thread is astounding

I'm also interning at an IB brah...but front office. Well done on your job ..just stay humble..also you do know most banks HR do extensive research on you as an individual, be careful what you say

Sweet. I see you're in trading. Quick question, do you get assigned a specific market i.e US market hours or do you have a portfolio with securities in multiple markets?

Specific product .. and you just trade that. For example, exotic interest rate options or vanilla options or equities or ETFs ..you specialise in one product.

Market making or prop? Do prop traders just do prop?
How in heaven's name do you square your profession, which involves little more than seeking out the most lucrative rates of return (usury to spell it out), with what seems to be your otherwise uncompromising Islam (persecuting gays, apostates)
I love how some people are so bitter with OP. Although OP will any of the employees at the bank take to kindly to this? You're not painting yourself in a favourable light and it may affect your chances of a permenant contract after uni.

Be careful bro, you don't want this to be the reason they turn you away.

Jealousy is rife in this thread. How about you get off your backsides and get yourself some internships, instead of finding any way to tear him down. He's a baller, you're not.

Perceptions on a student forum is of little concern. Although, you're quite right with the last statement.

How was your interview with them (before they employed you)?

It went pretty well, I think they liked me since the very beginning. They told me about the chance for a return offer and how they had someone in my position 4 years ago get recently offered a graduate job after 3 uni summer return offers.

They just asked me general questions about the industry and asked me about my previous experiences. I think they were impressed with the questions I asked at the end as well and how I knew quite a bit for my age.

Similar to Barclays, they're laying of 19,000 workers in there IB arm, because they're struggling to compete with other UK banks. They're putting more focus on their retail banking arm.

They're regrouping in some ways, they're cutting down permanently on the risk of their IB arm.

Most banks don't have prop trading arms anymore because of Dodd-Frank. The prop trading industry has shifted towards independent firms like Jane Street Capital

Some people on the tumblr bubble think they have a right to persecute anyone who doesnt share post 2000 Social Attitudes adopted by metropolitan elite. If you go outside the big cities you will find your views are in the minority,so when you call someone a bigot chances are your calling the majority of the country names. His character the way he conducts himself in society and with others has nothing to do with his personal views on behavior others should aspire to uphold.

I don't have tumblr and I don't live in a big city (or a city at all, for that matter).

Debunked.

Most people wouldn't question his career ambition. It's clear he's doing well for himself however his personal views are being questioned. Don't think jealousy is involved here.

Do you think anyone really cares about his personal views or just trying to find out anything to tarnish his character?

Yes, as his views on such matters would generally not be classified as incompatible with that of students on this forum and would seem to be rather backward in their eyes. Doubt anyone would care to actively find 'negatives' about him. He has a pretty open profile himself and is doing himself no favours.

As long as they're good-looking, I couldn't care less.

The day you actually discover what true love is, I'm going to dig this all up, find your office and post it everywhere and send it relentlessly to your future girlfriend as a kind gesture

Have you ever faced any discrimination for being a Muslim in real life?
When did you last go on a holiday?

Discrimination? Not that I can re-call. Probably indirect discrimination of some sort but not that I noticed.

In 2010, I went to the US and Canada.

I don't even think people on the internet can be classed as haters.
