I dont think Walcott has any real interest in playing striker and that was all positioning by his agent for the new contract. Sanchez has bags more technical ability and general craftiness than Walcott anyway so he's more suited imo. Sanchez is small but he's quite tough and has that low center of gravity. Maybe Sanchez will play with Giroud up front like Aguero and Negrano/Dzecko do for City?

Last time Arsenal played with 2 strikers was in the early 2000s but the lone striker craze seems to be in slight retreat atm with many clubs utilizing a sort of half striker as well as a target man.

Really? He's said for years that he thinks he would play best as a striker. Arsenal needed Walcott for his pace and playing as an inside forward on the right flank is just as important to Arsenal as a striker so why would that make any difference in contract negotiations?

I imagine Sanchez will play all 4 positions (left, right, behind striker and as striker) at various times throughout the season. I think had Liverpool bought him, we would've done the same.

More that it's now even less likely that Walcott will play the striker role since he's now behind Giroud, Sanagoo and Sanchez.

I'm sure he has a preference but I dont think he's as concerned as he made out at the time. He's played there like 3 times since his new contract, admittedly he's done very well at times like vs Spurs in his last game before injury. I dont think Walcott has the positional awareness to play as a striker long term.

Agree that Sanchez will probably just drift alot, much Suarez does for instance. With Walcott on RW he'll probably find himself playing more at LW though

Joel Campbell is surely ahead of him a well.

Well Wenger said that Walcott could play as a striker back in like January when he failed to buy one yet again.

Walcott would be fine playing a striker at a club like Aston Villa but I don't think he's good enough for a club like Arsenal.

Yea makes sense that it would be:

Giroud
Sanchez Ozil Walcott
Arteta Ramsey

As your first choice lineup? You guys have so many players now though, leaving out Carzola, AOC, Wilshere etc. I can see one or two decent players leaving Arsenal next summer (unless you win CL/PL, then people are happy to be squad players).

Ah forgot that Campbell has come back too. It's a big squad now. I'd be excited if I was an Arsenal fan for next season. Still think you guys will only come 3rd though.
Hello all! Just wondering what people thought of this piece.

It went down pretty badly on another forum I post on after they believed Khedira should be a definite signing!

You never know with Wenger, Walcott will surely find himself playing there at times and if he impresses then he might stay there. I like his finishing ability and pace obviously but I think both are more effective coming off the RW rather than having to lead the line.

That line up looks about right, maybe Khedira for Arteta if rumours are to be believed. Wenger also likes Abou Diaby loads so if he somehow stayed fit you might see a Diaby/Ramsey pivot.

AOC is progressing nicely as well so he might force his way into the team.

Next summer Podolski will be off I'm sure and I can see the likes of Cazorla and Rosicky leaving as well if Wilshere is so make progress.

Atm I think 3rd looks most likely. Hard to say how happy we'd be with that, it depends on how close we are to the title and progress in the cups/Europe. If Sanchez/Ozil play at full potential and we play some attractive football then that will placade the fan too because our game has become a bit slow since RVP left. I'd really like to see us in a CL semi-final though, it's been so long...

If you're going to advertise your own blog, at least be honest about it.

It's more about getting discussion going on TSR. The view count from here is minimal compared to other places.

I just seem to relate better as I've been a member here for over 6 years.

I'm curious as to why Arsenal are after a DM for big cash when they have other areas that surely need looking at?

Debuchy is all but done for RB so we need a GK and a CB as well as a DM with a max budget of about £100m.
Will Jenkinson remain as the back up right back? And I thought Verm was heading out.

Obviously all speculation so we'll see what goes on during the Summer but if there is 100 million to spend then certainly get Khedira in!

Is Sanchez physical enough to play the striker? If I was Walcott, I'd be pissed off since he's probably a similar type player to Sanchez.

You seen Sanchez before?

He's not a similar type of player to walcott either. He's played in the Walcott role before at Barca, for the most part(until last season) he was pretty trash when he played that role. He is a good player though. Arsenal are definitely title contenders with that signing alone.

Mate we were title contenders when we signed Ozil, this makes us more-so.

Good point, expecting 3rd place from you lot. You and Liverpool will challenge City for the title.

That's great to know. So I'm a troll if I'm not being a complete fanboy of my club and saying we'll win the title next season?

As of this moment, Chelsea are an injury away from playing Ramires or Mikel in the starting 11...
As LittleTom has said(and I've thought about it) Arsenal have better strength and depth in the AM position.
As Zurich has said. Arsenals defence are better than Chelsea's defence.
As the whole Arsenal contingent and United contingent has said, Diego Costa will be a flop. As Giroud gets a decent goal tally and Lukaku won't start, one must assume you have the better striker that will start.

So essentially, you have a better defence, better attacking midfield, better striker since Lukaku won't start. That's 3 positions out of 5, therefore you have a better squad. I'm expecting 3rd from you guys and to be above Chelsea. Anything else would be a poor season.

Whines about being accused of trolling (which I didn't do anyway) then proceeds to write a trolly post...

Everybody says Mourinho is a troll. So to compare me to Mourinho is to say that I'm a troll.

I'm putting 2 and 2 together and making 4.

Unless you mean that I'm a tactical mastermind but I'm not looked too fondly on these parts so think you're talking about the prick/troll side of Mourinho.

By the Jose and his little horse reference I was referring to criminally underrating your own team so to not look like a failure if all goes wrong. Nothing to do with trolling or being a prick haha think you got the wrong end of the stick there.

There LVGoat is with something Wenger will never have.

First Dutch coach to win the Bundesliga, while bringing in Muller and making Sweinsteiger one of the best mids in the world and turning Robben's career around.

He's superior to that specialist in failure you have.

See you at OT, for another easy win for us.
