Policies on exam reform were never the issue

Pace of change was a serious issue and Free schools are an abomination

The changes will remain irrespective

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose... Still, we can have a tiny, weeny smile, can't we?

The more I hear about her views, the more I shudder. Religion at least wasn't a big thing for Gove. I suspect she will add her additional agenda onto the ones we already have. After all, she will have to make a big statement to show us all who's boss...

I was amused to read that she is Women - but NOT Women & Diversity because she could not be trusted with Diversity so they split the portfolio

Most of the time I just want to lock myself in the house and pull the duvet over my head, stick my fingers in my ears and go, 'Lalala, not listening.' I'm not going to hear much that will make me happy, I think.

Ever thought of becoming Education Secretary?

It seems to me that you have every qualification there.

Oh, you.:colondollar:
Bit of a shame that the women replacing him used to be a corporate lawyer.
Thank God for that! Arguably the worst Secretary of State for Education the United Kingdom has ever had. A man who drove members away from the Education profession in their droves, lambasted professionals opposed to his beliefs as enemies of promise, concerned about the success of students so up went grade boundaries to restrict positive results. Need I say more.

A step in the right direction would be getting a bigger budget and making a bigger effort to stop the teenage smoking, porn, drug consumption that causes many many thousands severe Hypofrontality. Nobody has helped us. Get back January exams. IMHO.

More money does not mean better education. Polish kids perform better academically than British Kids yet they spend a heck of a lot less on their education system and it is much more rigorous. As for teenage smoking, drug consumption, how do you suppose they stop that? educating them through expensive programmes? because the government had tried that. What you are proposing is that the government has complete ownership of us to the extent that a teenager cannot watch porn? when you try to abolish this kind of thing, it just goes underground and becomes even more nasty.

Lots have helped us. But you have to help yourself too. This country spends lots of money on her youths in comparison to most other countries in the world yet it does not perform best academically.

You have to fend for yourself too. Should not expect the government to give you a step by step guide.

The fact that some teachers are wasting valuable education time by celebrating that Gove is out rather than teaching and not acting immature shows a problem with the profession. What do they think is going to happen now...wage increase?
Our school told our year we were taking maths and english early in January and so of course we all got prepared and then a week before we got told we were no longer doing it because Michael Gove said they were unfair, however how is cancelling the exam A WEEK BEFORE not unfair?! He then visited our school about a month later to look at our new science labs. It was kept a secret from the school and my biology teacher was genuinely scared because he came into our set and she thought we would all form a riot. When my friend questioned his decision he acted like we should be greatful and said it was the right thing. Every year above us will have had the opportunity to retake and not just maths and english, how on earth is that fair when in later lives, we are applying for the same jobs but they have better grades than us? Absolutely rediculous

Don't stress about it. Only a tiny minority of people do better in re-takes. So just because you will not have the opportunity of doing re-takes, does not mean you would have done better in them anyway. And if everyone in the UK gets lower grades, Universities will lower their entry requirements and employers (who tend to pay more attention to experience than education) will take a different approach as well.

Keep dreaming.

If you could perform before you can now, if you can't now you couldn't before. When there is an issue (and don't pretend there wasn't) it needs tackling. Gove tackled it, he wasn't popular for it but it was necessary.

Rather than critically analysing everything I said in depth negatively, you could have instead of took the view that this is a new viewpoint which could be welcomed. In fact, there hasn't been any education and porn addiction has only recently surfaced onto the news. Only recently has the media questioned whether porn should be taught to pupils.

But our school did a mock with the papers we would of had and I got really good grades, grades I'm not sure I will be able to get again. And if I had those secure, I would of been able to relax so much more for may with less exams. So as much as I would like to think, it made no real difference, i'm not sure it did. My main issue anyway, was not that there was no retake but that we were told there was until a week before so we all put a lot of effort into revising.

But it is not a new viewpoint. People are always blaming porn for this and that without any good evidence. Porn addiction has not only recently surfaced, I was watching a show about it years ago. Certain vocal individuals constantly go on about this. But it is not the only addiction out there. How is porn taught to pupils?
The removal of January exams by Micheal Gove was the tipping point
