I realised "next gen" consoles were well behind on the tech...

Of course they're light years behind even the most basic modern gaming PC setups. Next generation consoles are nothing more than garbage. They offer nothing but poor resolution, poor frame rate and plenty of lag. They're absolute TRASH just like the Xbox 360 and PS3. They have really poor specs, they're so crap and cheap!! They're intended as a no/low maintenance, easily affordable (albeit extremely weak and trashy) alternative to a gaming PC. Sadly, the result is that all consoles (including the latest generation ones) completely ruin the gaming experience. It's virtually impossible to enjoy playing any one of countless online multiplayer games on these trashy consoles, for example. The only game they're capable of running on max settings is Minecraft.

For anything other than Minecraft, games need to be played on a capable PC in order to gain the best experience and maximum enjoyment.

Ugh, so you'd be willing to pay upwards of £900 for a console? Consoles are mediocre in spec because they're mass produced, and not necessarily to a profit, for the delectation of the non-tech savvy market. If you're going to come up with something, please try to avoid delving into the realm of the fantastical.

You make a good point; sometimes we're simply too optimistic.

I just can' wait til exponential grow blows technology out of the water, as it is now it's stale as **** unless you spend big.

Yes, current gen being from 2013. And the GPU is worse than what was around in 2010.
If you aren't fussed about how powerful it is, why even have a new gen of consoles?

Because sooner or later games will stopped being developed for last gen consoles and not every game that comes out is available on the PC, such as Destiny. Some people might be Halo fans so they can get the Master Chief collection and resume multiplayer on the old Halo games with lobbies that have a good player count so games are reasonable.

Well I'm not too aware of the numbers or performance details but according to the video below the iris pro (dont know about the kaveri) can run bf4 at medium settings with some vsync:

and they are running it on a Brix a small cube pc

and you could get this Brix at around 600 US dollars around 400 pounds?!!

A few thing to draw from this. Iris pro 5200 is about the same as the Kaveri, or comparible to low end Mobile GPUs (in between 830M and 840M), or desktop GPUs from a few years ago (Slightly better than a 450, which is over 4 years old and wasn't exactly great back then). The video is at 720p/900p giving frame rates in the 50s and 30s respectively, ie, comparable to a Ps4. Vsync doesn't have any effect on performance other than to limit the output to the monitors native frequency. If you were to ramp it up to 1080p you would start running into problems, you would have difficulty breaking the 30fps mark and would likely be sat around 20, ie, it would be unplayable.

And if you need anything more to say it's not great, on CoD Ghosts max settings 1080p it won't even do 10fps

But...But... "resolution is just a number", "30fps is a design choice"..."we don't need good graphics, graphics don't make a game"...

The only people who say that are the ones who've never experienced PC gaming .

"Resolution is just a number" is from Ubisoft wrt the **** watch dogs resolutions, namely 792p
The 30fps one is from some guy really high up in the xbox division at M$ with Palmer Lukcy in response saying that "30fps isn't a design choice, it's a design failure" or words to that effect.
And the last one, well, we all know that: it's what all console peasants say when arguing with each other over graphics as soon as PC comes along.
Obviously, by console peasants I'm meaning the Sony and xbox fanboys

It's sad that console gamers will never experience great graphics. Stuff like Star Citizen (Probably going to be the best graphics ever) console gamers won't be able to experience it as in that article you posted, it just can't handle it. Stuff like good graphics increases immersion and when you see a game with good graphics it definitely makes an impact.
people who care = pc
people who dont = console

/end
Bought a PS4 and so far am regretting it. Destiny looks good though,

I doubt it will be best ever, and tbh would be quite surprised at best to date. Having seen UE4... doubt SC will be better

I wonder, if the consoles can't manage 1080p AND 30fps AND good graphics, then why is Sony bothering with project morpheus for PS4 when you're looking at wanting 100Hz, > 1080p and good graphics, or are they preemptively making it for their 27th generation console?
