Why are replica footy shirts so damn expensive?

I am thinking of buying myself a Barcelona shirt, but they are £90!

I wouldn't buy it for that much. Especially considering that it'll be out of date within a year.

I don't usually buy shirts, but this season I want to treat myself. But £90!!!
Sad fact of economics. They wouldn't sell more than treble the amount of shirts if they made them £30
Just get a past season one or start supporting a 2nd division Mexican club.
well they are made from polycarbonate
it is mainly middle-aged executives who buy them to wear at weekends so they can charge what they want ?

If you supported a better team then it'd be cheaper

Ipswich Town shirt is £45 - what more could you want?
If it's £90 it's a player issue shirt. The replica shirts are not £90, more like £45 unless you're buying direct from the club. Still not cheap I know but £45 isn't £90.

Depends where you look also.
Because: player wages.

in terms of dressing up like a millionaire it's pretty reasonable tbh - I'm sure it'd cost you more to dress up like a bank CEO

That's the point. I don't want to buy it from Sports Direct, I want to buy it from the Nike Town Store in Oxford Street, where they have a Barca store instore.

That's your own stupid fault then m8.

Even at the Nike store the £90 shirt is a player issue shirt and probably best avoided unless you have a body resembling an elite athlete.
Because people will pay that.

Like someone has said, it's economics. People are actually willing to put down this sort of money for a football shirt with their favourite footballer's name on the back
Get real, get some casual gear instead or buy the end of season shirts reduced in club shop- don't buy into all this commercialisation bull, as long as you go to games an stuff you are a supporter and don't need these shirts, in fact I have one from several years ago which I wear underneath
