Yeah, I've socialised heavily with a group of lads from various uni sports teams for several years. Boatraces, tours, nicknames, international drinking rules, NFF rules, done it all and have several t-shirts. I've never seen or heard anything like the stupid exaggerated bullcrap you get on ladbible.

To be fair, if you are abroad or out with a Sports Team, then its kind of the way your expected to behave, else whats the point, you don't go out to have a quiet pint in the local, you do that when your 45 after work...

I think most of you are missing the point.
Under most of these definitions of "lads", I would be considered a "lad".
It is completely ridiculous. From what I have seen from the male populous of TSR, most of them don't act like your typical student male. However I do.
I drink almost every day of the week averaging over 100 units a week. As do many of my friends. We "bin" pints, it is fun and competitive. I don't see what the problem is. Sure after a considerable amount of drinking there will be some throwing up, but that is what you expect after drinking copious amounts of alcohol. Then later in the night someone gets naked and streaks for a bit. It is funny and we all have a good time.
Now tell me, what is wrong with having fun?

Precisely.
There is nothing intrinsic to lad culture that means you have to be disrespectful to women. My experience of being part of a group of lads was that actually they wouldn't think twice about calling you a dick if you started being a sexist. A couple of times people crossed the line someone would always say "mate... that's not funny".

This idea that lad culture = rape, is a made up idea by someone who has evidently never been involved in the culture. It is more about out drinking people and having fun. My uni would not stand for any of this disrespecting women, you would have the rugby team at your door if there was even a hint about sexual assault. It simply does not happen.
Sure we drink heavily. But everyone one is treated equally. There was a strippers night on in the SU one night and we had 2 seperate showings, one for the guys and one for the girls. Even the girls get involved with the lad culture.

So ********s basically who won't live successful or great lives, they'll always just be chavy tossers. But there full of confidence (more than non-Lads) and talk there way into girls beds quite easily, much better than I can sadly.
