Why do some guys act like lads?

Witty bantar is the highest form of intelligence. Maybe you don't have sufficient levels of intelligence to participate in said bantar, and so find it annoying.

I'm not a lad and I have never claimed to be one, but if the majority of males posting on this thread class themselves as 'lads' I don't particularly want to be classed as a 'lad'. Sounds kind of idiotic some off the stuff 'lads' get upto after an evenings drinking.

I would be sceptical that 'lads' exist at the better universities. I'd imagine it's just posh boys delivering the tricks they learned at their private all boys schools. They'd run a mile from a fight with rough working class lads.

I'm not convinced on this second point. Generally I'd find those at the top in terms of people in their 20s aren't lads, they spend too much time working hard to engage in the lad culture. Success with women perhaps, as women love lads/bad boys, but not so much career wise.

There is actually no way to measure "success". However I would measure it by fulfillment and happiness. Socialising is a big part of life and even getting to a good point in ones career. Without those skills there is only so far that one can get in life.
The only people that like 'lads' are.... other 'lads'.

This. I have nothing against people drinking one or two but getting smashed, damaging people's stuff for "banter" and pissing everyone off is just really childish

It doesn't always lead to such activities. I can be very good fun if you are with the right people. I recommend you trying it sometime.

Being drunk doesn't mean you have to act like a bit of an idiot, whenever I've been drunk I've actually been able to remember what I did, which according to some people would mean that I wasn't actually drunk. This lad culture seems to have been conjured to make getting pissed and smashing stuff funny. The one time a person pissed out of their head smashed my cars wing mirror in I've hated this culture even more. Being drunk doesn't mean you have to behave like an idiot.
