ISIS says to Iraqs Non-Muslims- " Convert, pay Islamic protection money, or be killed

news agencies are reporting that ISIS proclaimed to non muslim communities in northern iraq that if they want to continue to live there, they must either convert to islam, pay protection money (known in islam as Jizya) or face death penalties.

ISIS, who are pushing to implement an islamic caliphate in the iraq-syria region and imposition of sharia law, are following the principles of early islamic caliphates in history who imposed the Jizya 'tax ' on conquered non muslim populations, which amounted essentially to protection money- to avoid their execution or conversion to islam.

not surprised at all, there is actually a 1000 year old precedent in the islamic world

If only we still had Al-Mudaari to come and explain why this s a good thing.
