There IS a difference lol. In St. Marks you can absolutely tell its all postgrads - the students are very mature and although there is socialising the students are serious and focused - you will love it here.

Hi, vggirl
I'm about to attend an MA course this September. I was just allocated a room on the 4th floor of St Mark's Block C. May I ask how many floors are there in the block? I've checked the 3d map but it turns out hard to find which one is Block C...
Thank you very much! Hope to see you in St Mark's!~

Hello AzucenaRen!
Could you tell me please were did you find the 3d map of St. Mark's? :-)
Hi Cell88! I downloaded an iOS app named "YesCitiz Leeds", it provides a fine 3D map of Leeds. And also you can google pictures using key words "St Mark's Residences"

Just downloaded it and, although it's rather tiny on my phone, I'm definite it's showing the old St. Marks not the new one. And it says that it was last updated 2010/11 which would confirm that.
Googlemaps shows the new St. Marks being built but I'm trying to look if there's anything better around.
We've just put some new pictures on our website today so have a look there as well.

Many thanks Sian! The app is so old! No wonder I could't locate any place looking like the new St Mark's. And I've seen the new pictures, which are very beautiful.

Hi Sian, may I know how many blocks are there in total? Different block has different sizes of room? Thanks.

Hi, there are 11 blocks (A - L with no I). They vary in size - the smallest block has just 16 rooms (in 3 flats); the largest has 86 rooms! Most are around the 40-50 range.
Most blocks have both sizes of rooms - although there are not very many of the smaller rooms; most are the premium.
Hope that helps - let me know if you've got any more questions.

Hi,

Lots of questions so I’ll answer them all together.

E block is all premium rooms. It’s the biggest blocks and most of the flats are shared between 9 so lots of people to make friends with! Your flat (angel 0512) is all girls.

The smallest block is K.

What's provided in the kitchen: In the 9 person flats in the kitchen you have 2 cookers, 3 fridge freezers, I washing machine, I tumble dryer, 1 or 2 microwaves, a kettle, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner, dustpan and brush, mop and bucket. In the lounge area, you have 2 sofas, 3 coffee tables, and a TV and you also have a dining table and 9 chairs.

Your rent includes Edge Club membership which is the off-peak membership of the gym and swimming pool on campus but you can also use the small fitness area at St. Marks itself.

As to whether the Warden is too strict, it depends what you mean by that. Yes, the warden and the subwardens will try to make sure that people are quiet at night so that other people can study or sleep. But as long as you are respectful of your fellow residents, you shouldn’t run into any problems. Were you thinking of something specific?

Hope that’s everything that everyone wanted to know!

sian,
It was a great help. And as far is warden is concerned, i just came to know about it through the feedback and nothing specific.
thanks sian

Hey Sian

I'm really confused - why have a lot of people seemed to have heard back about their accommodation and I haven't? I applied to St Marks but i'm a home student so I wasn't completely expecting to get it, but I would like a reply because I would have started looking at alternatives ages ago...Thanks!!

I am not 100% for this but i think its because those students have unconditional offers as also their international students and therefore their guaranteed for an accommodation. For Home students and EU (like i am ) we need to wait up to 14th of August if i am not wrong for a reply.

Yeah I saw someone earlier saying they needed to be unconditional or something?? I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere nor heard of this being a requirement for university accommodation? I was being lazy about submitting my certificate because its at home and I'm not back there for another week or so, if I had known this I would have submitted it much sooner!! Have you given evidence yet that you've met your offer?

I saw this from the website :

[h="3"]UK/EC postgraduates[/h]If you are a UK or EU postgraduate we are unable to guarantee you a place in University accommodation, but we are confident we will help you find a suitable place to live. You should still apply via our online application before the 1st July deadline.

Hi,
Being unconditional before you get an accommodation offer is mainly for undergrads so it won't have affected your application. The reason why you've not heard from us yet is because we have only allocated to international postgrads so far, not to home/EU postgrads.
Have you returned the email to us stating your preferred residence and length of contract? If so, that's all you need to do at the moment and we'll be in touch as soon as we can.
Hope that helps

Ohh I see, that makes sense. I'm not sure what email you're referring to though - I applied with my preferences in the online form by the website, not by email...should I be worried? Any idea when they're allocating home students, or if its soon? I want to get cracking finding alternatives and the undergrads will have snapped them all up before long! Thanks Sian!
