Getting A Job With A 2:1 Degree And Masters But Nothing Else?

I wouldn`t im not even struggling with Pharmacy and the only thing harder then that is dentistry and medicine. Be even easier at a lesser university, i probably would at Imperial or somewhere like that.

Pharmacy is not CS, if you think writing complex algorithms is easy, and writing code properly in an object oriented way you are seriously deluded. Not to mention you will have to learn quickly tonnes of different languages over the course of your degree, I can see you struggle with the discrete math modules.

But I guess you will hire a tutor to make your life easier.

Ofc, i would rather be working and worrying about that then spending time failing over it. More practical to get someone to teach it you properly in a shorter space of time, its called being time efficient, if I have to work say 8 hours to pay a few hours lessons at £70 an hour. I think that is more productive.

Many don't have tutors. So you can't say its easy, if you are getting additional help.

But i work full time also, as we agreed in "order to gain something you must give up something of equivalent exchange" i.e. money, good or service. I do give up Eastenders.

If you did not work and did a CS degree without a tutor or additional help (minus what the uni provides), you will fail.

A-Levels prepare you for degrees, they are the benchmark, they teach you basic skills necessary to succeed. Do well at A-Level you will at least pass a degree, meaning 40% percent or so. I honestly don't see how you can fail, Pharmacy is way harder then Computer Science. Your dealing with real people and real lives,lol, I can go to prison eventually for something. Computer Science what nothing.

Not as ridiculous as that comment! If you don't do anything constructive outside the time you are in school/college then you are making yourself much less competitive against people who have got off their backsides and done something. That obviously doesn't mean you have to spend every moment of your free time in selfless dedication to the community. It does mean that if you go to Uni and do nothing but study, party and socialise, you are going to be weakening the strength of your graduate CV.

That's what summer internships are for.

Very few careers offer relevant summer internships! Only TSR is that IB/Consulting/Grad scheme obsessed!!

You do way more career/CV enhancing work by being a committed member of a university society for 3 years than you do with a couple of 4-6 week stints making tea, photocopying and drooling/dripping over investment bankers.

Yeah sure, I guess you can be a volunteer in uni activities.

I would donate money, never volunteer - time is money. Just don't discourage people from getting jobs, hardships and payday loans aren't going to help anyone. Its money that has to be paid back.

Doubt its a tier one uni, they do CS at UEL, that says it all and OU. So it doesn't mean a thing, you can't do pharmacy, medicine or dentistry in those places. Must be a real gutter dog, to get a job in the jobcentre is a breeze, heck they they offer you free training to be, a healthcare worker, forklift license, sia license, guaranteed interview after a 2 week course, which i might add everyone passes. These companies are also just looking to put bums on seats and claim government subsidies for working with the job centre.

Yeah well I went to Aberdeen, has a good medicine department, and is good for Scottish law. For engineering and sciences, it is decent too because of the oil and gas industry.

There are loads of good unis that are mid ranked that do not churn out **** grads.

Some people just don't want to take any job they think its beneath them. You won't get anywhere in life with that mentality, ive worked in retail, warehouse, trading floor of investment bank, doctors surgury and ofc b2b boutique sales. Having the right attitude helps, the most fun jobs ive ever had are the probably the lower end ones.
