While it is a horrible thing to do it should not be a criminal offence to tweet a incredibly offensive joke.

Parliament legislated on the matter, the police are merely carrying out their duty.

I know the police are just doing their job and don't decide what laws we have.

Public outrage demands police action. It strengthens people's trust in the police.

No it doesn't. How much of the public have to be outraged?
Should we arrest anyone who posts offensive jokes?

If people are outraged they can tweet back, insult him, whatever.
There is no need to involve the police.
If you think that's bad you should google "Old Holborn" and see what he has said about Scousers and others on the Twittersphere. He's been visited by the police more than once. He's quite a character that chap.

Why is this reported in international business times? Stuff like this should be kept in the daily mail

I am pretty sure people did tweet back with some mean comments, but the point is to deter other people from spouting malicious comments on the internet.
