Yeah well at least I have the balls to try, rather then sitting there whining that no one will employ me.(even though I am working)
Every entrepreneur knows there is a risk of failing, but it doesn't stop them, does it?

If you think start ups are easy, it isn't there is a lot you have to think about. And it takes effort to think of a good enough product to worth investing time into. You have to also spend time writing a good business plan, analyse market trends etc

Finally building a software product is not easy. You need specialist skills, if you don't have the money to get someone else to build it for you.

I don't live for money like you do by the way, I do what I do because I believe in innovation.

If you really wanted to get something you would make the sacrifice, i.e. retake your A-Levels. Like I know if i wanted to get on certain schemes, my GCSE C in maths, is not sufficient for certain places to apply. I would need to reapply, even at whatever age. I would go back to redo it, even after having a degree at KCL and UCL. Heck even if I has a degree from Oxford/Cambridge, I would redo it.. Your reluctant to give yourself the opportunity, you seem to want guarantees. No such thing, forget skills, stuff like that can be learnt quickly, ive only been in various corporate jobs in short stints and various industries. It doesn't take long to learn anything at all especially when your doing it 10-12 hours a day 5 days a week.

One thing you haven't been rewarded for it, like for me if i dont get my bonus end of the month. My boss will get a verbally rude call at home.

bs.

Law is worse for unemployment.

Just to get a grad job, they look at modular marks. That says it all.

Statistically Computer Science is ONE of the worst.
I said one of the worst, not worst. And I heard law is bad too cos they look at modular marks.

Yes, they're called scroungers.

He is young and unemployed and keeps mentioning it in threads so he clearly isn't happy with it. Bitter graduate on the JSA scrapheap hating on others who are doing rather fine springs to mind. Not my fault he has a chip on his shoulder.

Nowadays, you really have to specialise young to get to the top. Its hard for example to move from Sales to Operations, each company has a predifined plan as how to develop people, within there training schemes. Its good he spends time working out what he wants to do. He won't be on it for long or the job centre would have banged him on a work trial.

Why need a basement when I have several properties?

You seem to think I would care if I required the dole... how presumptuous. If I needed it, I would actually find it quite funny that I am taking money off the taxpayer for basically doing nothing. You have a different moral code than me... evidently. In fact, if I could, I would sign on just to piss people like you off lol.

Says it all to be honest.

You are clearly hurt, it's ok. Your computer will love you.

The people in my life will yes. A computer can't love. Don't need to be a computer scientist to work that one out though.

p.s. sure, I can pick some old looking IT guys too but frankly that would be a bit sad.

Almost as sad as signing up to a student forum and moaning about your unemployment

He hasn't really complained about employment as if the world owes him a job!
Just throwing it out there, since the thread is getting incredibly derailed: does it actually MATTER whether CS is better than Law, or vice versa? :dontknow: :erm: :tumble:

I am not the one complaining, it is the op's thread no? I am comfortable enough.

If I wanted to go corporate and work in a company that requires 340 UCAS points, then you know what, retaking ALs is probably worthwhile, saying that many require ALs at first attempt. Even then there is NO GAURENTEE you will get on. Tom Ford has good UCAS points etc, and he is struggling to break onto any grad scheme.

But that is not the path I have clearly chosen, and for what I need spending 3 months doing AL IT again, is counter productive.

Will look at that, because my goal by 27-28 £100k saved and thats after paying my 2nd set of uni fees. Even started voluntary contributions against student loan, it got depressing looking at it. Yeah, people that have made it are at Director level of big companies at my age, next step for me is that. Living with just hopes and dreams is not good enough, rational logic and perspective gets you to success. He is just plain lazy and he is bring others down with him.

True, but also there is the fact that startups in general (namely tech) are high risk. To push more people in that direction is a dangerous game, because not everyone who may be convinced to take such a route has the secure financial backing to be able to take the hit of a failure. The average graduate does not have tens of thousands to invest in a tech startup, so automatically it becomes a very niche viewpoint.

This is how i know you have never has a proper job. HR departments outside of law firms don't care, they only take AML documents. I.e. Proof of eligibility work in the UK, NI and possibly Criminal record check and Credit Check. Your lucky with cash in hand jobs.

Well you know what.

Because I am technically minded, guess how much money I have invested.

£0

and the best thing is , the skills I have learnt is helping my day job.

Yes, I agree, it is not for everyone. But at the same time Sloane shouldn't go around discouraging people who actually want to do it.

I had these guys pm me on fb

http://veranperformance.com

I spoke to them, it was like we can pay you for a few months...... Anything beyond that.... Wtf.... Who wants that sort of security. I don't want to be reliant on wonga.com, certain people do.

Tom_Ford told me this, and he is a law grad. But I guess once again, you know better then people who actually studied the subject and know the industry.

Also, I remember when I applied to JP Morgan, tech side. On the app form, they asked you to disclose your modular marks.

Thers no guarantee in life with anything. I want a Sharapova type wife - no guarantee. If you don't try you don't get. But im willing to give myself the best opportunity. If you don't shoot you don't score. Atm they wouldn't give you the time of day. I don't know Tom Ford, but it seems he hasn't really trid, hes got time. Schemes are coming up now, he can apply but you can't see the difference. Its like being stuck on a desert island, you have no outs, he does,

I usually put N/A Hr people don't care, pass the Numeracy/Literacy. They are looking to invite a handful of people to interview days and then vet them out there.

I discourage people from being broke at a certain age if im coming up to 30 and i don't have a pot to **** in that is worrying! Also you got a kid onto payday loans and hardship loans, also a gambling habit to just survive.

I am working with a guy that has co founded a start up that has got corporate funding of about 1 million pounds from BT and google.

You need to stop treating everyone like they are a ****ing idiot.

One of the things you do at the start of any start up project is hardcore risk analysis. Yes, that means write a white paper, before touching any line of code.

I am also confident if not corporate, I can move into other SMEs.

Have a bet with you that you can't im a serious gambler with big stakes, that would be a value bet to me. I will give you a year and half till your 30th to do so, lol.

So, because there are not enough jobs for everyone who wants a job to have one... they suddenly become scroungers? Is this not the whole point of having a welfare state and particularly a JSA? I am not sure if you are autistic or just a bit thick...

Again, I reiterate because you clearly cannot read, I do not need a JSA because I have income even if I do nothing. This is called investing and of course , I had help from parents in the past. But, I would have absolutely no care in the world if I needed JSA. Money is money.

I bemoan the state of UK employment market... does this make me have a chip on my shoulder? Perhaps, but it is more likely just that I bemoan the state of the UK employment market...

It is good you are doing fine, but you are a bit short sighted and define your success purely on your ability to get a job as a computer scientist. Well, I can definitely tell you are a C.S. because you seem so narrow minded as to assume that money has to compulsorily be grown from a job. There's that autism you guys typically have there  . Have you ever heard of what a portfolio is?
